Dear Abandonia visitors: Help us keep Abandonia free with a small donation. Abandonia is like an old gaming arcade with only original games. Abandonia helps you have fun four hours and years. If Abandonia is useful to you, please help us forget fundraising and get back to Abandonia.

When Abandonia was founded it was to collect and present all old games where the copyright protection had been abandoned, hence the term ’abandonware’ and the site name Abandonia.com. We are still keeping the site open and free and will appreciate your support to help it stay that way.

‐ Thank you from the Abandonia Team

We are trying to make it easy for people in every country to donate. Please let us know how we could make it easier for you.

Please give whatever you can to help us.

swinging from the past

Couple days ago on July the 17th, new game Bionic Commando was released for Windows. If you don't know already, the first Bionic Commando game was released in 1987 for arcade machines.

That is our latest addition. DOS version may not be good as original arcade version is, but it is interesting to be see after so many years.

Cheats Under the Lantern

A lot of people cheat through the entire game, some people use cheats only when it becomes insanely difficult and the others just use them to discover new possibilities after they've finished it at least once. No matter which group you are from, you must consider cheats at least somewhat useful, if not for you, then for someone else. So I decided to keep it simple today and upload only extras related to this important part of gaming. I was kind of disappointed that I've found only two, but here they are:

The Resources Cheat for Millenium - Return to Earth, which gives you 9999 on all resources, made by Rogerwilco especially for the Abandonia community and the Level Codes for Flashback, collected by Frodo, so you won't have to search for them 1000 miles across the internet. What's interesting is that both games approached in their storylines the possibility of an "apocalypse". In the first, the humans try to rise from the ashes back to their former glory and beyond, after all the inhabitants of Earth were wiped out by a meteor blast, while Flashback forces you to try and prevent that from happening. Two tiny files and such a big newspost... I can only hope I determined you to at least try the games.

The Space Saga Continues

Since everyone around the world celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission, we've decided to draw more attention towards the modern space simulations here on AB. Apollo 11 lasted from July 16, 1969 till July 24, becoming the first in six lunar landing missions. The actual landing on Moon took place on July 20 and Neil Armstrong made the step that changed humanity on Monday, July 21. Unfortunately, there aren't that many games that focus exclusively on this milestone in human history, but here are ones somewhat related:

Buzz Aldrin's Race Into Space - Buzz Aldrin was also one of the crewmembers of the Apollo 11 mission (Michael Collins was the third). This game offers you the director position of the US Space Program (or the Soviet one). You win the game if you land first on the Moon.

Shuttlea realistic and difficult space shuttle simulation.

Apollo 18 - Mission to the Moon - After Apollo 17, all future lunar missions (18, 19, 20) were cancelled due to lack of funds. Mission to the Moon tries to complete the first one, at least virtually.

Moonbase - The possibility of colonizing the Moon is already considered in United States' current Space Program. So why not test your skills in managing a lunar base?

If you're still here you might be interested in NASA's 40th Anniversary page or France24's web documentary on the "Conquest of the Moon".

Æsir's Chosen Hero

Dark clouds are swaying ominously above Asgard (or was it beneath). Anyways, both, the land of gods and Midgard, where the humans dwell, are in great danger. God of Evil Loki has stolen Odin's sword, Freyja's spear and Thor's hammer, threatening the balance between the forces. Little does Heimdall know, that the next day he'll be forced to wear a mortal's skin in order to return things back as they always were. It's time to leave the bridge and the peaceful grasslands, and begin his long and dangerous quest for the lost weapons.

So, people, after half of decade having only the second part of the series, "Into the Hall of Worlds", I bring you Heimdall, the title that started this entire viking tale. Many thanks to Saccade, who provided us with the archive.

Superhero Bugs of Hoboken

Basically, bluestarultor has picked this Superhero League of Hoboken game off some garage sale and gave us his verison, which doesn't have a bug that occurs when fighting "monster trees".

He was also so nice that he made 4 fresh disk images for all of you that are picky about their game collections. They're available in extras section.

So download away and fight them, "monster trees".

Copy Protection Codes: Network Q RAC Rally

To pretend that we also take care of and even remove old deficiencies, I deleted the NetHack key manual that was connected to Network Q RAC Rally Championship as its copy protection codes, typed up the more or less real ones, and - of course - added them to the site. Along the way, I changed the game's title to the correct Network Q RAC Rally (little game series confusion, you know).

A non-alcoholic drink goes out to johnny d who misused the post report function to "remind" us of this now remedied nuisance.

This reminds me to say that you should tell us about mistakes and missing codes at the game's discussion thread; not because I fear a wave of post report function misuses but because of the fact that we simply need your help as the ones who play the games and use the extras and hence find out about this and that. And these incomplete and partly wrong CPCs are a good starting point - at least for my speech which was not meant to become so long... ~So long!

extras and boxshots: Red Baron

"I hope none of you gentlemen is so foolish as to think that the aeroplane will be usefully employed for reconnaissance purposes in war."
-General Douglass Haig, Commander of the British Expeditionary Force in France.

That's funny, but I think we can't blame him, events can be so unpredictable! Especially during war...

Ever heard of "Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen" known as the "Red Baron"?

His air combat skills became legend and thanks to him the red "Fokker" plane entered into history!

Take some minutes to read the detailed manual and the boxshots submitted by Chris, which deserves some cookies!
After that I recommned you to play the game...prepare a full immersion into the WWI!
