Could someone please point me the solution to the second Space Tribe puzzle? It seems like the only puzzle so far that I can't figure out outright. I thought about using the boots to go under and use a platform and then use fillers to get the rest of my Lemmings in the house, but as soon as the boot Lemming get head down he can't get out and end up walking back to the original spot...

The game supplied on this site have two .exe you can use to play the game. The first and usuall icon you would use is L2.exe. However it would be only the demo version of this game so you must use L2-FIX.com instead.

If you play the game with L2.exe you'll play the demo and you will only be able to play the first puzzle of each tribe. L2-FIX.com fix this problem.

I am sorry but I don't quite understand. What file did you download and what are you trying to use to run it?

you guys playing it on the pc? Or on the Amiga?
Playing it on the Amiga makes sure the game does not crash or shows bugs :D

Hi all, hope I'm not too late in this thread.

Wonder if anyone else has had this problem :

I can play all the levels now, but if I quit the game and go back in, I have to start at the first levels again, I'm sure there used to be a file called something like save.dat when I last played Lemmings 2 in DOS using my 386.

Any help is appreciated, I wouldn't want to find parts for my 386 to get it running again :)

Eagle of Fire
16-12-2004, 09:14 PM
Do you save your game before quitting?

Cannon Fodder
17-12-2004, 11:44 AM
Well, there you go. Don't know how I missed that big Save button on the main screen. I think that I thought the game auto saved, so didn't bother looking properly.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious to me.

I have downloaded the copy of Lemmings 2 from this site and I am unable to get the l2-fix.com to run. It just sits there saying:
"Lemmings 100% Cracked by Horizon for Razor 1911

Original TSR by Network /Skillion..."

I run the file by drag n dropping it onto the Dosbox. Does the program have to be copied to any special place.

If I run the L2.exe file then all I get is the demo version.

Thanks for any help.

WOOT!! :w00t:
I have only played the Original Lemmings and Lemmings 3D before, but this is a new one on me!

It's a great game! Full of diversity and just as soon as I get used to all those new abilities I should soon be able to master the later levels. I've only played a few of the Beach Tribes up to now.

Good job about that L2-FIX.COM file. I was having the same access difficulty myself earlier. Then I saw the info on this thread...

For anyone who doesn't know, [P] is the pause and [ENTER] is the fastforward. Saves moving the mouse about too much.

Hi guys, thanks for your work that allows me to play one of my favorites games ever, when i was a child. But i still have a problem: I run the game like you suggest, using Dosbox on my windows xp and it works fine, but i can't get any sound or fx from it. While Dosbox is launching the program appears a window saying "Sound loading" and after a sec appears "FX failed to load", so the game starts but it's deaf... Can anybody help me?
Thanx and many compliments for your work again.

Ref eagle of fire's request on bottom page 1

HI - i just played the lemm2 space level 2 and this is how i got 59 of 60 lemmings to the spaceport:

Pour glue in first pocket. The first lemming to return to the left i gave the task to build blocks to fill the gap left of the landingspot.

Next i let one of the lemmings jump over the second pocket. Just when it lands, make it build blocks over to the next obstacle. (this is the hardest one to achieve, You must be extremely tight) The rest of the lemmings are gathering in pocket 2 meanwhile.

When done and passing on top of the obstacle, the blockbuilder should start a second blockramp over the edge. As the only way to get through the ground is below this area - it is vital the lemmings pass through the hole (we are soon about to make under this block-trampoline) walking in the left direction.

Same time the builder is done, let another lemming jump over pocket 2 and start walking the path. Let the builder close the gap over to the right and prepare to blow a hole under the trampoline. When he is done building and start walking to the left, let him have a bomb. 5-4-3-2-1 and he blows a hole in the right spot (or left spot to be precise).

The other lemming you've set free will have to build block bridge over to the spaceport over to the left, so the same timee he passes through the new blown hole - start to pour glue in pocket 2 to set the remaining lemmings free.

It took me three attempts to time this right, so it is a tough one, but use of the 'p' key as a fast "paws" makes it easier.

Enjoy !!

I launched Lemmings 2 (via l2-fix) and I ended up with this screen:

Lemmings 2 loading...
©1993 Psygnosis Ltd.

Expanded Memory Manager v4.0 Found
625888 bytes free in Main Memory
15663104 bytes free in Expanded Memory at E000 Page Frame
16288922 bytes free

That's it. The game just stops there. Do I have a problem with my settings and PC? Here's the specs

DOSBox ver. 0.63
Windows XP platform
2.4 GHz Pentium Processor
128 MB VRAM
512 DDR RAM

Any problems?

here are all the fixes for everything!!
*run in dosbox, any version will do, i will get back to sounds*
1. after running the l2-fix.com press enter
2. if it stops after the memory load screen you must open the dosbox directory in a small window and the l2 directory in another small window, now drag the l2-fix.com file ONTO the dosbox.exe file! it WORKS!
3. if you run it using VDMSound (and some dosbox version) you get the message about harddrive accessing, you will have to use step two!
4. now for the sound, search the net for VDMSound, download the free version. install, now go to the l2 directory and right click install.exe. select run with VDMSound. now configure to sound blaster, now just press enter over and over again until the install quits or gives a message that says it has NOT been installed (dont worry, it doesnt matter). close the install window. now follow step 2 if required!

yay i'm not lazy, make this sticky!!

Sorry to slightly necro a thread, but to fix the mouse problem you simply edit L2.ini. Find "sensitivity" and change it to a 1. Instant fix!

I found a fix at the following site page (look under the Lemmings 2 entry) that allows us geezers to run the file directly from Win95/98/Dos7+ :

www.the-underdogs.org/tech/techelp_l.html

It's named L2_Fix.rar, but it is NOT the same as the L2_fix download from here; it only installs a patch. It will probably help in 6.22 too. I can now run it out of Windows Explorer in Win 98, although it's a bit jerky - probably better to run straight out of DOS. I can use DosBox but it really strains my poor old 'puter. Whether or not it does anything for WinXP, I couldn't tell you but it might be worth a try.

I also found a manual which lists all the different kinds of lemmings and what they can do - look for lemm2dox.zip on the page:

www.lemmingsuniverse.net/downloads.html

Don't know if anyone is still reading this forum, but:
How do you beat the third level of the beach tribe? It seems stupidly hard (the lemmings walk into water almost immediately) and the level doesn't match the image on the frontscreen. have I done something wrong here?

Help! :help:

l2-fix.com does not work for me! Am I the only one who has this problem?

I am doing the following things:
- Unzip the zip file to c:\dos\lemm2
- Starting DOSbox 0.63 on Windows XP (which is mapping c:\dos to the "virtual" c:\)
- cd lemm2
- install -> Soundblaster Pro etc.
- l2-fix.com

The game starts, but I can only play the first levels and the buttons "intro", "save", "load" etc. do not work!

What do I have to do? Did I do anything wrong???

IkeMike
19-03-2006, 08:40 PM
Alright alright, I got it to work! ;-)

- Unzip the Lemmings ZIP file
- Unzip the fix "l2rkofix.com" that seems to fix some kind of fat32 issue...
- run l2rkofix.com
- run install
- run l2-fix.com

I'm soooooo happy! :-)

2. Run it with Dosbox

Try running it with DOSBox (http://www.abandonia.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=14913).

Also, please post the exact text of the error message.

I downloaded the game, ran it, it worked smoothly, but the game and music ran much faster than I remember it going...
maybe my grandparents computer is just slow...
I tried slowing it down with the F11 key, but all that did was make the game laggy and really screw with the music :(
tips please?

You don't come to a doctor telling him "doc, I'm not feeling well, plz do something...", do you?
Please begin by telling us what hardware configuration and operating system you've got. Also, did you try using the DOSBox emulator to run the game?

KurlyQ
08-08-2008, 11:33 PM
Yes, I guess that wasn't excactly enough information...it was a little rushed when I was writing it, sorry.

Yes, I am playing it in Dosbox. also, I'm using windows XP at the moment.

I was just checking around this site after my last post, trying to find the answer for myself, when I came across the music player. The music there sounded just as fast as the game played it on my computer. so maybe the speed it is at is it's regular speed.

I just remember going to my grandparent's house and playing the actual lemmings 2 on their DOS computer, and having everything a little slower than it is now...maybe they just have a slow computer :P

dosraider

In dosbox:
To speed down hammer on CTRL+F11
To speed up hammer on CTRL+F12

As described in the readme.

KurlyQ
09-08-2008, 06:19 PM
as I said earlier, I already tried that. the game stayed the same speed, but it just started becomig laggy and screwed up.

i dunno, didn't you press fast forward button on the bottom right corner?

and how fast is your second anyways? try making a video

KurlyQ
10-08-2008, 03:30 PM
no, no fast forward button :P
yeah, a video would be good idea.
I'll make one real quick.

EDIT: the video codec doesn't like me, so I did something else. I recorded the music directly from the game with adobe audition. I then took that clip of music and slowed it down to how I remember it on an actual DOS computer. it's not a perfect representation, but you get the general idea, right?

what the game plays on DosBox (http://www.themarvins.org/carlweb/lemm2.mp3)

how I remember it (http://www.themarvins.org/carlweb/lemm2regular.mp3)

KurlyQ
15-08-2008, 12:03 AM
yeah, looks like the speed is right on DOsbox. I think my grandparents original DOS computer was slow :)

Maybe a bit dead, this thread, but nevertheless: How do you finish Classic level 7 (?) - So close but so far away

Here (http://tle.vaarties.nl/lemmings2/solutions/amiga/classic/1/10/) I found an explanation, but this applies to the Amiga version. In the PC version you only have 1 lemming - or is that because I killed most of them in an earlier level (where I only saved 3 out of 60 or so)?

[edit] Yes, that is correct - I replayed that one level and now I have the lot ;)
