I'm sure I remember this being played by viewers on an old UK Saturday morning tv show called Motormouth. I've been looking for it for years! Never could remember the name. The viewer on the phone would shout "Left! Right! Jump!!". :P They also had Magic Pockets on the show as well. Interesting, huh? :crazy:

this game could be good if it weren't so freaking frustrating. it takes the character about 2 full seconds to turn around and, although that doesn't sound like much, it usually is just enough to get you killed by something.

PLEASE Is there someone who could help me to run this game???? I tried hundreds of times to set up with the file zip I downloaded from this site but the DOS version didn't work!!!! I can't run the game after I chosen the audio card. I tried to find an Amiga version of this game on the net but I t seems it doesn't exist!!! PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!

Thanks for the answer. Now the question is "how I can activate the cheats?". I tried many times to follow the instructions but every time I reach the right side of the screen inside the mirrors room and type ...---... and the plus symbol + I can't see the infinite lives on the control panel. Which are exactly the keys I have to push and where is the right point where locate the character? Without the cheats this game is quite impossible to play!!!

I didn't even know about that cheat... So sorry, but I can't help you there. I only read about it now. Maybe you shouldn't go to close to the mirror?
Let us know if you figure it out - please!
Oh - and I don't know about an amiga version of the game, but you can also try to get the C64 version. It's the same game, but with slightly worse graphics.

I tried a lot of times to type three times the . key and the same number the _ key and again three times the . key (the S.O.S. code in morse). There are many websites where you can find the same instructions to cheat Weird dreams, but I can't use it!!!! It's very sad to begin again the game when I killed the girl with the soccer ball!!!! I don't know if this cheat works only with amiga or c64 version, but it seems that with the dos version it couldn't. There's also a website with an image of the mirros room where it's expalined the right position to obtain the cheat but still I can't get it also less or more close to the right mirror!!!!
A question: what's the level you reached in Weird Dreams without the cheat? It's almost impossible to pass the desert level or the park level....gameplay is very frustrating but the concept is brilliant. I hope some software house could create a new 3d version of this crazy game with new levels and graphics....

Well to answer your question. I have finished the game both on C64 and Amiga, but the dos version seems to be the thoughest!
I was able to finish the deasert level though (you can also use the ctrl+F11) to slow the game down - if playing in dosbox.
I have completed about 65% of the dos version - I haven't finished it (the cheat didn't work for me either), although it's been 8 years since I played the game. I did review this one and contribute the game - but I didn't really feel like replaying it again except for the testing reasons.
I have seen many reviews, wlakthroughs, cheats, hints,... for this game, but they all seem to be more or less taken from the same source and aren't really helpful.

so the best advice is - play it over and over again - until you finish it. The bigger the frustration when getting killed - the biggere the joy of finally finishing the game. Trust me - it's nover as gratifying to win the game by cheating - there's just an empty feeling of seeing the entire game - but not of actually winning. Because if you can't lose - you can't really win either.

This was one of the first games I ever got on the Amiga.
Its not something to play for weeks now, but for a day or so, its fine to play such an old classic.
However, does anyone know what the music piece from the garden scene is called, its must be something well known, I hear it on TV all the time, but never found out whats it called.

Here's how to make the cheat work:

In the mirror room position yourself so that you're halfway inside the right mirror (the one leading to flower garden).
Then tap with the "+" key 3*short, 3*long, 3*short. Your lifebar should change to infinity. If this doesn't work then just tap + randomly until it does.

When the code is on you can turn it off by pressing + in the mirror room.
If you press it somewhere else than mirror room, you skip to the next screen.
You can also enter the "out of order" mirrors now.

I still cant get that cheat to work! aghhhhh!! I've been trying for 15 years, ever since I first got this annoying game for my Atari ST!!

I see the picture showing the exact position in the mirror but I can't seem to get into that EXACT position! Any help? Did anyone actually ever get this cheat to work??

I always wanted to get further into this game and see some of the other screens (Only saw fairground, desert & garden) but it doesn't look like I ever will. If someone could take some screenshots of further levels and email them to me that would be much appreciated!

Well, I'm still there, locked inside the first stages of the game, in the desert with the flying fishes over the head of the character. I've never been able to use the code to obtain infinite lives. It seems there isn't a way to make it works: it seems that only the recent games could allow you to use tricks and codes.
Anyway, recently I've seen Mirromask, a new movie directed by Dave McKean and written by him and Neil Gaiman, the author of Sandman and I discovered that they stolen the idea of the flying fishes from this game!!!!! It's incredible how this bizarre and impossible game has influenced the imagination of so many people in the last two decades!

Which keyboard layout do you use?

Try first three +es (numpad) in one second, second three in two seconds, third three in one second. If it doesn't work try again several times or change your position.

What version do you guys think this game looks best on? I think this game looks best in DOS-but I can't get the cheats to work in DOSbox either <_<
I tried to get the C64 version through the link here, but I can't find where to download on that site...I don't trhink you can, I could be wrong

You are not wrong. Both Lemon sites are generally not download sites for C64 or Amiga games (although there are a few C64 games that are offered for download).

The cheats for DOS don't seem to work at all (I guess they aren't the correct cheats - at least they don't work in this version), so you'll have to finish the game on your own - sorry.

The cheat definitely 100% works in DOSbox, but it's just extremely frustrating to get it to work.

One difficulty is that any extra push on the + key will reset the cheat so it has be a very precise combination of three quick taps on the + key, then three slow taps, then again three quick taps.

The + key on my numeric pad is longer than other keys, so a good technique I found was to move my finger up the length of the key with each tap, so that I was precisely tapping out three quick taps. Then I would wait for around 1 second before starting three taps with 1 second interval between each tap. Then again three quick taps after 1 second.

The main issue is the timing between the three slow taps. With each unsuccessful try, I suggest varying the timing the next time, & making it more slow or quicker.

The location where this is to be done is shown in Reverend Bizzare's post. You have to go into the right-most mirror as far as you can without actually going through.

If you get the cheat working, then make sure to NEVER press + in the room with the mirrors, or the cheat will again be reset. :wallbash:

get the amiga version of the game it rocks too, and yeah i cant beat it also.
i die right in the level after i killed the roses i think, but i cant remember what level comes there, yeah and what about the desert isnt infinite somehow what do you do in the desert anyway, ands sh** im still scared of that girl and the football lol

Yes the cheart works press the + and - keys on the keypad followed by the * key(to the left of the - key on the numeric gamepad.
I prefer the PC version, it is much smoother and faster than the Amiga version, and the VGA grahpics and adlib sound I prefer.

I was very disappointed that the “Manual” only addressed the story without guiding the first hints of the game (how to play, how to install, etc.). :wall: :sos:
