Hey, I just want to try and squeeze someones mind to see if they recall this game that I used to play when I was younger. It was around the 1996-1997 time I think. It was like a board game i guess. you all had a character each and then you raced against eachother (like the amazing race) around a map. It was slightly educational from what I can remeber as you saw different World locations as you went to places. Some of the funniest parts were when you put sugar in peoples engines so they missed a turn or made them get picked up and moved far away :sneaky: . GREAT GROUP GAME!! :brain:

It looked quite good at the time. Was a top down game, nothing too flash though. If you could help me figure out the name of this game I would greatly apprectiate it! thanks! :ok:

Ok, this is going to be hard. But I'll try anyways...
I played the demo of this game maybe between 1992~1995, I don't recall exactly when it arrived at my place.
It was some kind of board race game. The game was about a race around Europe - or maybe the world and Europe was the only place available in the demo version.
There were a number of characters and each one had their one car. There were some quests like, first go to Oslo than to Paris etc. and there was a city that was the finishing line. A villan was also there, some kind of magician like with mustache and everything. The player could buy cards and other stuff during the race. The graphics were cartoon like.

That's all I remember for now. If someone needs more info to recall, I'll try to remember also. I've been looking for this game for years and can't remember the name of it.

Please help if you can

Yes, hero, it's the full version!!! Eastern Europe just takes a rather long time to open. It's a lot more fun than playing the demo, of course. ^_^ However, Eastern Europe doesn't have as many cities in the game as Western Europe does. That's kinda... humm... suspicious? not to mention kinda boring. It's a lot coller to open bussiness in LiepÄja than in Dijon in a game :P

On an XP machine, I've only been able to get this (brilliant) game working by buying Windows 95 and emulating a virtual Win95 machine in the free VMWare player.

If anyone's got an easier way, I'd love to hear it...

how do you actually think that abandonia collected all the games. by buyng them? don't be silly

Dave

I'm only following the procedure:
"First of all, we only accept original games. We are well aware of all abandonware sites out there, so if you downloaded it from one of those - we don't need it. You can still suggest it by using the contact form (http://www.abandonia.com/vbullet/../main.php?nav=contact) if you think it would be a good addition to the site. Secondly, make sure that the game in question is abandonware (use our oldwarez search engine (http://www.abandonia.com/vbullet/../en/main.php?nav=awlist)). When you have done that, send a message using the contact form (http://www.abandonia.com/vbullet/../main.php?nav=contact) and be sure to specify WHICH game you wish to contribute and give some details about it. After that, if the game you propose is appropriate for the site, you will soon be notified with the login info for the FTP server where you can upload it."

Like the title says, I'm looking for a game that may or may not be based on the movie "Million dollar mystery". What I can remember from the game is this:

It's a turn based game, and the players have cars on a map (I can remember Europe, but can't tell if the map is limited to that continent). The map has cities/destinations/fields you stand on, and dotted lines between them. To move the cars you don't use a dice, but a slot machine (I suppose that is a good clue if anyone has any idea about what game this is). I think you can also get some special cards during the game, that does different things, like allow you to use a different slot machine (to get a higher number and move more spaces etc).

The point of the game is to reach a certain destination first (I assume to get a money reward). After this is reached, the location changes, and so it continues (or it ends and you start again, can't really remember).

I played this game in the 90s, could have been around 93-95. It had colors and decent graphics for that time. I think the version I played was a demo, as it always seemed a bit short or unplayable after running a while. I think it was delivered together with our new CD-ROM station, and it was deffinantly on a CD (probably a CD with a demo on it).

Like I said, from what I seem to remember from the game, it seems like it may be based on "Million dollar mystery". I had completely forgotten the game until I saw "Rat race". In fact, before I figured out about that movie being a remake of "It's a mad, mad, mad, mad world" I thought the movie was inspired by the game.

I have spent the last days looking for it, searching all the games on this side, and numberous others, in addition to google searching. So far I haven't found anything. Hopefully somebody here might help :)

Only after you have removed the link, it came to me that I should have checked whether the game is protected before posting the link. I searched the net and could find no definite answer, apart from the thread you point to.

I found some other sites that provide the game for download, but it's also for sale on amazon.de (http://www.amazon.de/Electronic-Arts-total-verrückte-Rallye/dp/B00004TOQD). The publisher has a page (http://www.bluebyte.net/ger/products/rallye/index.htm) for the game, but no information is given how to get it.:notrust:

About the review: thanks for the offer and I would gladly accept it. But I have to admit I never played the game (let alone owned it), I just remember the review from a local games magazine. On the other hand, being unbiased by any old memories of the Chase, the review should be more objective. ;)

As the game is no longer protected, I suppose it is "morally acceptable" to download it in order to do the review?

Dave
08-03-2008, 07:47 PM
mhh...I didn't know there was a German version around called "Die total verrückte Rallye"...and I don't understand why your Amazon's link says it was developed by Electronic Arts instead of Blue Byte...
Mobygames doesn't mention it:
http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/dr-dragos-madcap-chase

And you know, we can't approve games that are still sold, this time I have to ask what to do. (PM sent to Admins)
I mean, do we have to consider it as a different game or not?

The Fifth Horseman

I have to admit, I'm not quite certain myself about it either.
The safest thing to do is assume that different laguage versions - as long as they are for PC - count the same.

Hi there everybody.

Maybe some of you can help me.
Im searching for an old Game, but cant remember the name -.-

Ill try to discribe it ^^

First of all, it was similar like the movie "Rat Race", but it was not a racing simulator, it was a kind of board game. There were up to 5 or 7 opponents, and there was a multiplayer built in but this game was split in turns, so that only one player could play his round. At the beginning of a round you had to roll a dice. If the dice showed up a 6 for example you could move your buddy 6 fields across a road network. And on some roads you could find some extras like money or something, dunno what it exactly was. I think the main goal was to make more money than your opponents.

Sorry, but cant remember more details of this game, long time ago.

Hope you can help me and thanks ^^
greetings,Dodez

I've been trying to find it for long looong time but let me tell you guys its pretty hard.
Ok about this game:

You roll dices in this game, and you also use cards as wild cars, maybe to avoid a penalty from the referee who is chasing you.
you can pick a character, they all have friendly appearance (blond girld with jeans and white blouse, blond farmer guy with jumper and white shirt etc) and even when it is a board based game... you are not per se in a board but in the world. And you use the dices to move from continent to continent by air, sea or land....
The character may use a car, a plane, a boat, a bycicle, it all depends of how much money the character wins during the game.
Of course there is the referee, the cliche bad guy, with tall hat, curled mustache and dark blue suit. He will follow our character and will ask you for taxes everytime he reaches you, when gets from you good money he will also buy an evil car or evil plane. There you can use a card to get rid of him or to send the referee to your oponent.
You can play this in a local multiplayer version with even 3 more players.
Something about the appearance of the game is that probably (im not sure) the resolution was 256 colors, in every continent where you go through, you can see the most famous constructions of that place... as an example.. if you were in the south of europe you would see the coliseum, the Leaning Tower of Pisa or if you are in the usa, you would see the statue of liberty etc etc...
When crossing the sea there was no squares as in monopoly to go through, but little yellow dots. And in the land, well the boxes had each one a little construction or image of what you would buy, or pay for the stay.

I summon the experts of abandon games, maybe someone can help me :)

ok thank you guys, i really really hope some help.... :)
