I'd like to recommend everyone give this game (as well as the first UW) a solid chance. This would have to be one of my very few favorite games of all time, and I also try to play it once a year. Thank you for uploading it, since now I don't have to install it from my 6 floppies. Excellent game, but I highly recommend playing UW I, then Ultima VII (both parts), then UW II. A 'lot' of backstory and characters are explained in Ultima VII, and it's incredibly playable in Exult (it's also an excellent game as well). Many hours worth of great game time.

Great thing with adding this game. It's quite, if not to say much, better than part 1, too.
Btw. when you have the runes VAS + ORT + YLEM, try to use them to cast a spell. But save before, it can fuzzle too. And it increases in use with higher levels. ;)
Also, the same trick as in first part works here too. You place any potion on the ground, work on it with fireball or lightning and when it turns to ashes, this ashes can be picked up and used as if they still were the potion, but now forever.

a few moments ago i've installed underworld adventures from sourceforge...
this piece of software is really cool! great grafik display on different resolutions,
fluent animation and superbly reworked music!

i advice everybody who loves playing UW1 to give underworld adventures a try.
but make sure you've got UW1, though for it's required....

although i don't know exult for ultima7 i pretty much imagine this program being
of the same purpose like underword adventures is for uw1...

i hope some day they will code an analogue utility to enjoy uw2 the same enhanced
way...

I'm having the same problem too. And I'm Using DosBox! O_O ... Well, actually, ... ... that's not quite the problem. XD (But It USED to be! Pwned by DosBox... ) Now, whenever I try to generate a character, it just simply crashes, with a short and meaningless error message. It also runs quite slow, and I don't think increasing its framerate would work either. The sound is all messed up. ... Probably has to do with the setup programs.

Think I should run the setup programs in DosBox as well? :)

I started off as Paladin and i was expecting to find a few runes at the start. unfortunatelly in my big bag i picked up in Avatars room there is no rune sack. same goes for the wooden trunk. No runes in it. where are they? i know they should be somewhere on the start but where?

In the Avatar's room there's a switch that opens a secret door to further room, and in that one there lies the rune sack and few beginner's runes. Also be sure to look around in Nysthul's room, there's a teleporter to a secret location with some more runes and potions. ;)

Of course you can get out there, there's a corridor leading out of that place to the central chamber where you can enter the different worlds, or up to a secret entrance to Castle British.
And unless you already have some good armor, weapons and fighting or magical skills you should avoid the fight with the two gazers as they might kill you very well at this stage of the game. But they give good experience, so if you care to bash your head off few times, the reward is good. :)

And that about the crown, it's simply cursed. There are some cursed items to find in the game, and they all just damage you when you put them on - speak useless.

i found it :w00t:
it's in the first room when you enter the tower.
there will be a box on your right. pick it up and throw it away. there shoiuld be a small paper under the box. and that's the food voucher. if it's not tehre then it must be in that box.

no it seems you have to jump out. it's very hard jump. i din't find any corridors in it. i usedthe leap spell to jump out of it and now i am progressing in the game...

still i think UW1 was less chaotic.

But as far as I can remember, before you find the gem of worlds and are able to enter them, there are two gazers in this level and there's a chest with the cursed crown and pair of runes. And there's a corridor leading out of there...

you remember wrong. still you have a point. how would one get out if you don't have the leap spell?? well another way would be to wait untill you get the runes for leap spell or wait untill you can put together the fly (or maybe levitate) spell.

I think the Ethereal Void is the only area where you can't see the map. Also you'll encounter the Etherial Void in the Scyntyllus Academy (or whatever it's called, the magician area where you need to pass tests).
And yes, it's large, and small at the same time. Means that on the Etherial Void there are loads of teleporters, which take you to different areas that you can't reach walk-wise. Just explore the Etherial Void, you can't get lost, if you go too far into the dark outside, you automaticall will be teleported to the start entrance.

To reach the stone in the shrine in Etherial Void, btw., you need to eat one of these dream plants (save the game before) and with luck you'll land in the dream inside the bars around the shrine. Then just move the stone out of the shrine so when you will be able to enter the area manually in the Etherial Void, all you would need is just to fly up there and to take the gem from behind the bars. ;)

I know I shall kill the Listener, but I dont know who is it! Where can I find Him/Her?

The listener is on the 3rd level of the Castle British dungeons, where the water falls little more down, there's an entrance to a corridor with lava-walls. But you can't enter to the room where the Listener stays, for that you need to be in the second world, the Prison Tower. There's a sorceress that can help you with that. She can give you a jeweled dagger that opens the room to Listener, but first you need to gain her trust. ;)

How to do that? Talk with this spying old hag in the room just next to the room of the Sorceress that ask you some questions when you arrive there, and when you answer all questions right, she'll give you a task - to find out if the sorceress is a spy. When you find it out and betray the sorceress, your game is lost as you will be stuck then. But if you don't betray the sorceress, you are able to kill the Listener and the game continues. :)

The ghost is freed when breaking the bond of the Guardian, but there is no reason for freeing him, there is for breaking the bond, which haves the effect of freeing him. It is part of the story the way of doing that, the mage at Killorn Keep will help you with that.

Ultima Underworld 2, what a great game! I've been longing to play this game again, for over ten years, finally found it for download here, thanks abandonia, you've got one of the best abandonware sites on the web, i know I've been to most of them looking for this game!

However I have a problem. I cannot seem to get the music in the game to work? The only way I could get the digitised sound itself to work was to select "pc speaker" as my synth source, and my sound blaster as the digital source, only problem is, I don't have a pc speaker inside my pc, ahhh!

Is there anyone out there, who knows of a way of getting the music to work? I've listened to the midi files, and they are awesome! It would be fantastic to have this great music working in the game. Can anyone help me please? :sos:

I don't need to use Dosbox, as I run the game on an old 486 pc I have sitting around, it's great for retro games, you can pick them for next to nothing. We abandonware fans should all get one, it makes life so much easier, just fit a cd-rom drive, sound card, and you're away!

Anyhow, when I try to setup the game on this accient pc, it says in the install program, that the sound files are not installed, even though I know they are. The game runs very well on my newer computer an AMD-K6 II 450mHz, 56Mb ram, I get the sound, ie the Avatar walking around fighting stuff, and opening doors, but I can't get the music to work?

The AMD has a soundblaster emulator, so I thought that was the problem, but the 486 has a true Creative SB16, but the sound does'nt work at all, I get a message, saying "sound initialization failed" or something similar, can you help?

how can you not have the speaker???? I thought all computer have them, if nothing else they are the ones that let you know what kind of error BIOS has or to give a beep when you turn on the computer just to let you know everything is ok in BIOS.

Well i will try and guess but you are running the game in DOS, right? because if you are in windows (anykind) when you run it you can't set it up because they might block the IRQ needed for sound.

so...

1. make sure you have SB properly installed in DOS.
2. If you have it installed check it's parameters (IRQ, DMA...).
3. when in sound setup use the manual setting up and type or choose the parameters. Note that often cards have a manula where you can see which IRQ can be used. some cards use different ones for music (MIDI) and for sound files.


I still have it installed on PC. stopped playing the game a year ago. i don't remember what it was this time. i came quite far in it, but then i stopped. after a while i started Arx Fatalis. better graphics and not so much strange levels. i prefered the UW1 more then second one. it is much less confusing.

Old sound cards also often have jumpers to set Plug&Play mode, the IRQ and such by hand. You might want to disable Plug&Play mode of the card, I know it gave me problems with one I had.

It's simply. First you choose the soundcard for music and sound in the install.exe and save it. Ignore if it says anything about a card not detected or similar. After that, you need to run the small program that's located in the same folder called uwsound.exe. If you don't have it for whatever reason, PM me and I can send it to you through email.
In it you can see if the sound and speech are detected. If one of them isn't, you can choose the fitting number for menu and manually change the adresses. For me in DosBox it's by default after the game is installed IRQ 5 by which the speech isn't detected, so I changed it to IRQ 7 and it worked. I suppose you have same or similar values set by your soundcard's driver, so you might need to change the IRQ like I did.

After you change the values and the detection works for both sound and speech, choose 3. Exit and Save and your problems should be solved and the game fully playable. Good luck.

In case you have some problems identifying items (lore skill is low) you can do the following method to discover an item is magical and its properties.

First of all, items with different attributes do not mix. Let's see an example. You have a candle, and it's half-burnt out and a somewhat used candle. No matter what you try to do you can't group them in the same space, they will always stay in different slots. Another example: You have found a stick. As you travel, you will surely find another stick. If you try to group them but they refuse to do so, there is a problem. You look at them but they seem to be exactly the same. The answer to your question is simple. One of those sticks should be magical, but its use is unknown yet.

The other way I consider it somewhat 'cheating'. You will surely find loads of scrolls and potions around the underworld and it is wise to gather them. They can be of much help in times of necessity. To identify them without raising your lore skill is simple. Get a piece of paper and save. Now, drink a potion. See what's different, if a spell was cast or your vision is blurred and write it. Then, use another potion/scroll and write what they do. Since the items stay in order, you won't have problems finding them again. But, be careful! If you take some out or use some, the order may become strange and will require perhaps a new battery of tests.

This applies to UW Stygian Abyss too.

Yes, Im sure this is Ultima underworld 2 -Labyrinth of Worlds. I thought RPGINST is for installation. I tried UWSOUND but it saids could not find configuration file. Although by typing RPGINST after mounting, it goes to install screen. There are three selecitons; Install game, Create Bootdisk, and Exit. But I guess this is for a different game; The title of this screen is DRAGON WARS. I tried every single exe files but non of them worked.

Hey there. I have played this game through about 20 + times. With every character. On the boxshots there are 2 pictures that cannot occur in the real game. The Yetis and the bridge and the ghost with the Guardian pictures in the back. I would like to know if anyone has actually seen one of these in the real game. The caption says: actual scenes may differ. There is another one on my box with a mage on a part inside the mage academy, I guess. This scene is also not possible in UW2 as far as I have seen. Comments?

I'm stuck in UW2. I've put the candles of the trap under Killorn Keep to get to its blackrock gem. Now, I fear that I can't get into the alternate/trap dimention; is there any way to use Altara's wand to dispel the Guardian's presence from the Keep without getting into the alternate dimention? Or do I have to return to a (much) earlier save?

The correct place to use Altara's wand is in the secret room with lava behind the guard's quarters. Head to the southwest of this map, there should be many bed's and in one of the walls is a secret door. Open it, then defeat the special guardian (twice), get his key, open another door and you'll be in a room with flying eyes and lava. There you use Altara's wand.

First of all i have to say im a huge Fan of the whole Ultima series up to part 7. Lets forget about Super Mario Avatar and Ultima 9 for a while here.
What i didnt like about the underworld series tho is that even when the game shipped back then in the early 90's the graphics were....crap. You could hardly make out anything on the ground. I never got into those 2 games. they probably would really rock if just you could actually SEE something.

Same with menzoberranzan. Would probably be a great game if it werent for the blurry graphics.

Yes, UU was a different breed. It baffled me as well, I was used to playing the likes of Dark Sun :) But it had a strange charm. After me and a friend of mine started playing it, we were talking on the phone every two hours, telling the tales of our accomplishments :D

I remember well when I got Ultima Underworld, I was walking home from school when suddenly something beside the road catched my attention. It was a pack of cigarettes, but it looked too wierd because it had a 500 Schilling note stuck into it's side (bout 50$ worth in Austria). I picked it up and couldn't grasp my joy, thought if I should deposit it in a search+found place.
But then I said to myself, if this person has money for something stupid as smoking, then he must be not be that poor person.
Didn't take me long to decide that I wanted to buy one of these "new CD-ROM drives" for computer as I only had a 3,5" floppy back then. It has cost me most of my money and with the rest I bought Ultima Underworld 1+2 on CD edition.

Set the cpu cycles, because it doesn't set it automatically, you may have it at the default 3000. About 12000 should be right. Or you can just use "cycles auto" :)

I recommend the Vistual Hint System (Google it). You can input questions like "where do i find the purple stone?" And it will hint something like, "look in the deeps cave, but mind the step" and you'll know to look for a trapdoor or fall down a hole and there it is.

Didn't really help much for discworld, though, cos the puzzles were so bizarre. I did love the custard spell, though ^^

You mean area levels in the game or character levels? Without the castle it's 4 basement levels in Britain and 8 different worlds through the gem.
If you meant how many character levels, I don't remember exactly but it's something above 20.

Actually those two points need to be considered while you are creating your character, not after you are in the game already.
If I was you I would create a new character and consider the following:

1. That number 44 is how much weight you can carry on you, either clothing / armor or in the inventory slots and the containers. Strength dictates how much of it you can have so if you want to wear the plate armor later I strongly recommend at least Strength of 25.

2. Magic is very useful in the game, among other being able to repair your armor / weapons without the need to learn the Repair skill, being able to fly with high Casting skill and casting protective magic shield(s) to protect you from damage. So I would recommend to pick either a Paladin or Druid (better in my opinion) again and again until he has Strength 25 or more, ESC key aborts the creation and you can try again. Both those classes have more Mana than other classes except of Wizard, who has more Mana than anyone else but is very weak, and Druid has more Mana than Paladin.

3. Basic skills provided for starting character vary greatly when creating him, ranging from 4 all up to (I think) 12 points. Especially with Druid this is important since he gets either Mana or Casting skill (or both, don't remember) at the beginning. Keep choosing him over and over until he has 10-12 points in those skill(s).

4. And last thing to keep in mind - if one stat (Strength, Dexterity and Intelligence) is higher, another is lower. With Strength of 25 you should have Dexterity of 15 and Intelligence 20 / Dexterity 10 and Intelligence 25 or anything in between. It varies.
Strength affects how much you can carry and how much damage you can deal in melee combat - very useful. Dexterity affects how fast you can run and how far you can jump. Not the most useful stat but still helpful. Intelligence affects how much Mana you get at the start and after each level-up - very useful. Anything below Intelligence of 24 is not recommended. Dexterity of 11 should be more than enough.

So,
STR 25
DEX 10/11
INT 24/25
would be (in my opinion and recommendation) a very good balance. Also most of the time you should (and will) fight with melee weapons. Ranging is not that useful, you need to carry arrows / bolts around and those are heavy, besides they run out and you have to find them first though they aren't that scarce. Pick only one melee weapon of your choice (I recommend Sword, to be skilled later for Black Sword, best weapon in the game) and raise the skill only for this one (increases your accuracy) together with the Attack skill (increases your damage) and you'll do fine up to the end.

Containers can carry limited amount of stuff in them, best are backpacks, chests are good but they both weigh themselves more, too. Bags weigh less but can hold not as many things, also.
Also, if someone in the castle has to say something new to you then speak with everyone in the castle, usually almost everyone will have to say something new.

Keep watching the floor plates, in which sequence they raise and disappear. You just have to wait until the two floor plates down to and next to the further away gate are raised, then just quickly run down them and right up to the gate. After that you're safe from falling, you can open that gate and when you're in, open the other one with a lever next to it to save the troubles for the future.
It's quite easy once you've figured out what and how to do.

To avoid pressing CTRL+F12 each time you play the game, set the amount of cycles in dosbox.conf file to 20000-25000, that should be perfect for the game. If you have already more cycles than that, you don't need to change anything.

As for which spells you can cast with the stones you have, it doesn't seem to be available at Abandonia in the extras for the game, unfortunately.
Just download this complete list of spells for Ultima Underworld II (edited by me) from here - Link (http://www.4shared.com/document/8DLkeH7k/Spells.html). It has all spells standing there, hidden and known alike.

Yes, this would be the reason. Each level of the spell requires a set amount of mana, triple the level. For example a level 1 spell would need 3 mana (feel free to correct me here), spell level 2 - 6 mana and so on.
Training Mana skill increases the mana you have, but seeing as you're a Fighter, it probably won't help much as you'll still have very little mana. Maybe you should consider to make a new character, taking my advises further above for help.

Those "flying red round aliens" are Gazers. They are tough, cast lightning bolts and are very dangerous for low level characters, leave those for later when you cast good magic or are stronger in melee and have better weapons.

O, yes, how to use the spell when required letters are ready, located right of compass and mana is enough?

You need to have enough mana available and the right letters selected to the spell being readied right of the compas. Just click on that spell readied.
If it's a ranged attack spell or spell that requires a target to use on, a red circle will appear which you need to click with on the target. Spells that make damage on everyone in front of you, that require no target to be selected or spells that are used on ourself like healing and flying, are cast immediately instead. Those that add an effect on you like Resist Blows or Invisibility place an icon of that spell left of the compass. You can have max. 3 of those duration spells being maintained.

EDIT: I always played as a "Sheperd" character, not quite sure why, but never really had problems with mana or anything else.
One thing I've seen in a speedrun, guy was exploiting a "feature" (dunno if it was patched tho) that he was tossing useable objects(scrolls, wands, potions) at the wall till they crumbled in dust, picking dust and having unlimited uses of the item.

It has never been patched, at least the casting a lightning bolt or fireball at some potion or scroll repeatedly bit which produces ashes with same properties. I never tried throwing them at walls though, but that should be working too.

EDIT: I always played as a "Sheperd" character, not quite sure why, but never really had problems with mana or anything else.
One thing I've seen in a speedrun, guy was exploiting a "feature" (dunno if it was patched tho) that he was tossing useable objects(scrolls, wands, potions) at the wall till they crumbled in dust, picking dust and having unlimited uses of the item.

But 3 games are nothing for gamer yoga, amigo..:whistling:

And Prince of Persia 3 ( too much jumping :() play not every day..

Torches and Lanterns are better, they give more light and last longer (refuel them using oil).

Also you can repair all torches, lanterns and candles just like weapons or armors with the Mending spell so that they-re fully filled or new / unused (torches) again. One lantern is all you'll ever need after you become able to cast that spell, and no need to carry oil flasks around with you anymore, they only take away from your maximum weight.

It's a better option to have a lantern with you as
1. it is brighter than the level 1 Light spell (same as torch)
2. it stays lit for much longer than a torch / Light spell
therefore it's better to carry the lantern with some oil flasks around and later when you can cast it (which will be soon enough), repair it with the Mending spell after which you can get rid of all oil flasks. Casting Light all the time will leave you no mana for other spells, and you'll need them.

In fact the runes are similar as alphabet, only exluding X and Z letters.
I like the dialogues of ultima as it's written in an old english, that's really nice.
I watched a film dunno xactly what film it was, prolly something historical/fantasy, but, as I prefer watching films in english, I heard some monks(in the film) speaking this old language, and that was the time when my ultima experience came to payoff =D.
So play games since you never know when it comes to handy in the world behind the window =).

Too late, amigo.
First I attacked these two allien red 5-legs monsters in their one way cave. Being brave but weak I had power to kill one only. Other killed me.
Then I cont. to investigate and suddenly bahhh !! down. Level 4 - I found myself between 5-6 friendly spiders but they watched me very strictly so I am unable to steal their eggs?
Rats! Must I kill them to take eggs?
Well, I cont. investigation and was badly attacked from 5 green warms. I killed 4 and escaped from 5-th (they are poisoned) and prepare to kill that one. Meanwhile I killed 1 bat and 1 flying monkey. Then I reached a friendly goblin and we chatted peacefully.
Now I am level 4. Do not miss this level 4 with location level 4. I recollect that I must visit some island there? True?
Very important Q: Am I able to return in the castle when I found the gem?

You can leave them now if you don't think you're strong enough, but you'll need one of the spider eggs later when you explored a second world at the world gem. They give good experience though, at this moment in the beginning.

Huh? Are you sure that were the runes Ylem and Por? Water Walk requires no room ahead of you. Sounds more like if you tried to cast In Mani Ylem (Create Food) :p
At the top down level, in the hall with the world gem, there's another side corridor which leads directly up to Castle British.

I found the large Blackrock Gem on the lowest level and stood before it. (All living things without 2-3 frogs are eliminated.) I passed through the waterfall, kill the spider and took one green emerald. I am able to return without problem to the castle. When I enter in the blue large Blackrock Gem on it more bright side I moved to some passage with the door, which I was unable to open…No key.

But the best my products are home made vine and grape brandy.

But back on topic. You need around 12-15 points in skill of weapon you're using and similar in Attack to not damage your weapon all the time from hitting the reaper (hard tree being). Or you can use a wand of Lightning you should have found on the same level as the reaper, or cast Lightning if you have enough mana and skill. Otherwise, Magic Arrow will do too, but it will take a lot longer, Reaper is a strong critter. He's got a key behind him in a sink to the armory below the castle though (you know, that unopenable door where that anvil is), so depending on what equipment you've already got it might be worth the fight - there's some good armor and weapons in the armory.

If I am right, the green eyes of above face with bone in the mouth glittered. In the best variant I am able to blast 5 blasts.

..and my conversations with 3 goblins are not encouraging.
I met 3 goblins.
First is just goblin from Moglow tribe- It trained me on Tracking successfully
Second (located near 2 fishing rods and a small lake) is named Rogwump - it is polite and nothing more.
Third is Tripper - it has throat problem and often cough. It offered me barter. Its offer is stuff which I have already: flute etc.
I very carefully tried all (there are no much) variants in conversation but did find any direction for some key.
If i start battle with some of them, they all appeared and en masse attacked me.

Yoga... the goblins I mentioned earlier are in the first world you can enter through the blackrock gem on the top down level below the castle :hihihi:
You however are talking to those three goblins caught in the caves below Castle British. They are not really any relevant to the game.

Of course you can return later and defeat that reaper, there's no crucial stuff he's guarding in the sink except:
1. The key to armory below the castle (which has among other plate chest, broad sword and battle axe, though in a pretty bad shape needing repair) which provides some benefits if entered early in the game but not very useful anymore after you visited the first and second worlds.
2. Magic longsword of (if I remember correctly) Major Damage which is again pretty good in the beginning but less so later on.

So you can safely leave him for now but return later and kill him just for the experience.

After kindly granted Spoiler of noble Wardencz and Scatty tips humble but brave yoga just killed at bottom level 5 one red colored bat and one of both flying vampire-like monster. I am here to report, then relaxation with a cup of coffee (without sugar, of course) and back in the battle to kill another vampire and investigate further. The game takes possession on me.

If you rest in the hall with the large blackrock gem, new monsters will usually spawn which you can kill. That provides a good means to gather experience and you can fish in the water there to have food again, so you can do this over and over again.

Nothing to thank for, it has nothing to do with me that you load a previously saved game :p

About the food voucher, you find this scroll in the barrels right at the beginning when you enter the first world, among lots of food, which lists certain amount of different kinds food. That's the voucher you need.
You can also simply kill the goblins, which will turn all of them hostile further on, but they'll be killed anyway after you release Garg (big orange troll) further above in the tower. The goblins are no weaklings though so watch out with your current level.
Best if you return to the castle after you finished this world.

You just need one fishing rod. When you're standing very close to water, just left-click on the rod and there'll be a chance that you catch a fish. Doesn't happen every time so just click repeatedly until you catch one.
Miranda is at the back of the castle, in the room opposite the throne room where lots of food lies on the floor.

Because you suck at Repair skill :p
Either increase it or (better idea) increase you Casting and Mana skills and repair things with the Mending spell (REL SANCT YLEM). It's a level 5 spell so requires at least Casting of 17 to avoid frequent backfires. Also save each time before you use the anvil on a weapon or armor as there's always a chance it will damage them instead of repairing or doing nothing.

Well, I produced wine and as by product some semi-vinegar. Being yoga I want to use Eco products as this vinegar. But my wine is so good that the vinegar is still wine-like-even after 2 years. Hope You understand.

The box is nothing else than a magic wand in shape of a box, with a limited number of charges of Create Food spell. Once you've used all the charges up it becomes unfortunately just a normal box for storage of things.
You can still cast Create Food on your own to store up a pile of food, then rest to restore mana and eat yourself full again. Should be still enough food left for using later so you'd have no worries of starving to death :p

It is most certain that you have a cursed item equipped. You can identify items with ORT WIS YLEM (5th circle spell), so I wouldn't use gold or items to pay someone to identify it for you. Aside of that, you should never equip items that are magical before you didn't identify them. Save and identify, if the items isn't magical, load the game to not waste mana.
To open chests or doors I never used the Picklock, instead I either bashed them (with bare fists, they don't get damaged by doors like weapons) or cast EX YLEM if a door is massive and can't be bashed open. Try punching some door you can't open. It can take some time though.

Then.... As usually I tried to sleep to recover myself. Click on ... and in my dream I found myself attacked by flying reddish eye-like monster and small monkeys with wings!!
This was dream but they really hit me. Then I answered with my sword and killed the eye. Then jump in and awake!!

Relk is Guardian's servant, as is Mystell, that woman who you had to speak to in the beginning to answer questions for "security reasons".
If you need that bottle with Flameproof spell, it's up to you. But why would you need all the bottles of water? They serve very little purpose in the game.
About Beatrice, no, you don't need any mineral. At the frozen fountain where you met her, use the amethyst rod to cut Guardian's influence off that world.

You must have eaten one of those plants (forgot their name) at Anodunos near Mokpo. It must have been your first time that you slept after that, which caused you to have a dream about Ethereal Void. You can visit it as the last world later on, but (Hint & Spoiler) visiting it through eating plant & dreaming is the only way to reach something important in there.

Throw the cursed crown away, unless you'd like to have your life being drained again :p Basilisk oil is for much later when you enter Ethereal Void.
If you mean with the "guard" the ice golem in Anodunos (if I understood you correctly), yes he's having the key to that door. He's strong so you need to have already good skills in Attack and the weapon you're using to effectively hit him. Otherwise cast Lightning at him from distance until he goes down.

I spoke about this gay in K Keep, who I met before the massive door of Engine room. I must enter this room and get the rid of the Guardian using the new created Magic Wand of Altara - which action I have to do in every world after having a gem.
But= have no key, he is v. strong and bashing with bare hand do not result!

Dear Wise man Paco yesterday night (You was not in chat room) advised me to eliminate that guard using A-Bomb.

But that would be too radical just to kill a simple Hordling :p Level up a bit more and train your combat skills, also use the spell Enchant Item (VAS ORT YLEM) to make your armor and weapon(s) much more effective. It's a seventh circle spell so it requires a good Casting skill to avoid backfiring very often, but it makes your gear much stronger so you will defeat that guard easier.

I used the same way with the strong Reaper.
Up my level and combat skill and back to defeat it.
Note: You know I found a good sword in this plant with red fruits who answer= You can not grab me-- after a few attempts the plant who is located near the trap with key showed this jeweled sword.

No he just blocks your way. I don't exactly remember but if there's a key to this room it's either in the cellars below the castle or in the Ethereal Void you enter through the trap in the cellars. If there's no key, you can just open it with EX YLEM when you find the runes later. Don't think you can bash it open since it's a massive door.

Dude are you reading my thoughts or am I reading yours? I just wanted to recommend Fallout series to you before seeing you also asked for them :D
Yes I would very much recommend you both Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 (for the second one Killap's Restoration Project 2.1.2b is very recommended), they're both great and addictive games. Fallout 2 also is much bigger than the first game and allows to develop your character more and spend more time playing it through.
But if you're playing Fallout 2 (with Restoration Project) do yourself a favor - get this (http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/dload.php?action=file&file_id=1331&sid=6fa2682910c5e3543e4005f1a37c452f) editor and edit yourself a Power Armor / Hardened Power Armor in. The game will otherwise suck for a long time, before you'll find your first Power Armor much later after playing through more than half of the game. The enemies are much more pain in the butt there than they're in Fallout 1 and you'll find yourself being constantly annoyed of dying very often.

I'd recommend you fallout 2 aswell, heck of a good game! Or maybe something fantasy like Gothic/Risen, good too. For other genres, I'd reccomend Dungeon keeper 95', or the both Magic carpets.

Second that. You must have played Fallout 1 bevore, to get the feeling for the game world and story. Can't simply jump on a train driving with 180 km/h :p

In Scintillus Academy, if you mean the same location as I think you do (following-up rooms with many teleports along the edges), save before entering each teleport. If it's wrong one and you end up in previous room you've been before already (ground textures), load and try another one until you reach room with new ground textures. Repeat until you end up in a floor seeing a table & chairs before you and two corridors leading further, that's when you made it through.
You should be able to find the missing runes in the Ethereal Void you can enter there, although Flam rune is a bit tricky to find. You'll need fraznium circlet found at that area of Academy you emergy into from the last teleports.

Mage Academy
This whole world is just one big fat test. There are eight sections to the test, one for each level. I honestly found it pretty straightforward, and so I don't think it warrants any major hints. On the 5th level is another moonstone. You should have 2 by now. By placing one anywhere then you can go there instantaneosly by placing the gate spell on the other stone. This will save you alot of time and trouble. On the eight level near the locked door to the secure vault, is a pentagram. You'll find many runes here including Hur and Wis. Use the rod here. Open the secure vault with the key found under a bed in a room on that level. You'll find a grey moongate which will let you enter a certain area of the Ethereal Void. Make your way through the water till you until you find the other end. However before passing teleporting go back and continue the path you were on even though there is no floor there. You will not fall since the floor is hidden. It's a good idea to cast Night Vision here. Anyway, you'll find a chest with basilisk oil and if you continue along the corner across the void and through the force field you'll come upon another room which looks empty. However there's a hidden panel on the center of floor which holds the VAS and TYM runes. With these you can cast the best spells such as Fly (VAS HUR POR), Freeze Time (AN TYM), Gate (VAS REL POR), and more. Do not drink the basilisk oil, you'll need to drop it in the muddy filanium deposits in the Ice Caverns. So go back there and do that and take a mud bath. When you leave, it should say you're skin is oily. Now is a good time to go to the dreamworld on the Ethereal void.
There you go.

Fallout is btw. a pure RPG if I ever saw one. Only the setting is not Fantasy, elves etc. but in a post-apocalyptic alternate universe on Earth, with technological setting. Rocket launchers, shotguns, robots and scarce remains of pre-war technology devices.
Also has a great ingame music in my opinion.

You have to click on the Eye button and right-click every wall there few times repeatedly, then you'll eventually find one secret door there. If you mean the secret room in the Ethereal Void there, that one is much more difficult to find, generally you'll need to move forward and sidewards as if you would want to enter the (back) wall, just keep searching.

But there is a heavy battle with 2 Demons-like monsters; one with red, another with green wings in lava environment and 3 doors.

I am forced to check my wands and another battle equipment because the fight with sword is not acceptable for me.

The last is Academy.
The only fail is I did not find the second moon stone even my strict efforts around the center in level 5, where the friendly headless born. Simply it was not there..

Of course you can drop the keys you used already. No further need for them.

Mortal axe? What do you mean? If I was you though, I would concentrate only on one weapon, remember I wrote a while back? Otherwise you spend unnecessary points for more than one weapon, points you could use better for skills like Casting or Mana.

I am level 13-th and I am informed of all in the world of Pits..
But I unable to kill Dorstag still, who keep the gem in question.
Some gay told he kill above mentioned in his high quartet with 2 frost wands only.
I do not believe. I did the test. Dorstag is not alone. There are about 6 strong guards and 2 in near rooms. More walking outside.
When I started the first wand of frosting they all attacked me like a pack of wolves. Even I am yoga, I am unable to crash this pack. And more emerged from the streets...
I think I have two way to win:
1. Step by step to kill all guardian around Dorstag HQ increasing my experience. But this is a long boring way.
2. To use all my wands and spells hoping I will be lucky man.

Is it true the kind golem Blog will help me in my battle if I say Shiny? But in my conversation with Dorstag no variant to say this word???

Easy. This time without battle. I visited the Blog, a gamer like me and we friendly gaming. very nice game - named Black-White. Ha ha ha
But yoga played Grey stone and Blog fall in love. It promised to help me with bad Dorstag.
Well, I visited again HQ of Dorstag, opened his secret door with bare hands and start speaking. Suddenly Blog appeared and told Dorstag: Better give the Gem to yoga.. Ha ha without a drop of blood Blog transferred me the Gem..
So peacefully I am owner of the Gem.

I have many good friends - one of them send me the 2 additional level of Heretic 1. N 4 and 5. Only N 6 left..
I was searching these levels about 5 years - they are after defeat of D'sparil and his minions.
Only 1 minute more: These levels are very hard. But there are many weapons also. I passed them for 10 hours.
Well, when Heretic 1 in the future joined to AB, I will be humble applicant for Adviser as Scatty is now.

You need to use the wand at a certain spot in every world. In this one you have to go to that small insignificant room on the first level, a bit downstairs, where you had to fight few giant rats and few bones are lying around with nothing else of importance there. That's Guardian's tie point in this world. No one would suspect it there, you know.

Great news, mates!

But first I will report I used my magic wand of the location in PC, kindly noted by our dear Scatty and ....yes I free the 6-th world by tyranny of Guardian..

..Now I am in Praecor Loth.
I found the Gem in question and liberate the 7-th world.
Here I definitely have problems to slay Metal Golem and Fire Golem.
I am still 13-th level.
I operate with that jevelled sword I found at first Reaper swamp.
I regularly check and make excellent all my battle equipment, using spell REl Sanct Ylen

- Well, the answer of my Q in the beginning is: Yes, Mana is regenerating during the game.

Now the very big news:
If the gamer opens his sub-directory DATA and change the name of the file shades.dat to let say shade.dat and delete original file, if any, the next time when s(he) entered the game there will be Daylight. Amazing. No torches, no lanterns.

I played all the day to receive warning the game has corrupted list..

Location: World of Praekor Loth -level 2 - epic battle with 1000 skeletons..

I am falling on the floor crying loudly and desperately.

Well, after happy end of my tech problem I entered the next level..

Here I met the bad thief Morpheus and lord Umbria with 2 golems around.

I tried the battle with the first opponent but I understand it is better fighter than me..

Then I tried Levitate spell, opened the door after Morpheus and met above mentioned Umbria. I opened the chests and took magic bow.
First I closed the door behind me avoiding chance to be attacked behind by Morpheus.
Then I attacked 2 golems. The first was frost by relevant spell. Anyway I lost..
Sadly before me will wait terrible Lethe - the best fighter ever seen..
My level is 15 only.
Maybe some master will advise me for best battle tactic.
I think maybe is better to retreat and increase my level fighting with skeletons again and again (they re-spawn), find and equip with better weapons and back again?

Q: Is it time to try Basilick oil and harden my skin??
Is this battle the final and fatal?

Nonsense, Basilisk Oil is not used in this way, and it's not time yet. You still have one world ahead of you after this one.

If you got high enough Casting skill you can cast Smite Undead on all three of them, they'll be instantly dead. Golems shouldn't be big trouble. Umbria might be immune against that spell though, not sure. You can cast Smite Enemy in that case, but it needs highest possible Casting to not backfire or fail.
Otherwise cast Iron Skin (Thick Skin if you have too low Casting), Valor and storm into melee fight. If you still can't defeat them, level up a bit and increase the skills with weapon you're using, Attack and Defense. Also enchant your weapon and armor to the max.

You can place one of the stones somewhere on the ground and keep the other in your inventory. When you cast the spell Gate Travel on the stone in your pocket you will be instantly teleported to the location of the other stone.
Useful for example to teleport instantly to Castle British from one of the other worlds, or to the hall of the large Blackrock Gem.

Well, I returned in PC and killed all moving object except Jospur, who managed duels for me.
This way I increased my experience to 9600 points but still not enough for 16-th level.

There's a spell Summon Demon, but save before you cast it. Killing them will give you some good experience, especially the Void Destroyer does, but he can also kill you quickly.

The runes for Smite Undead are - AN CORP MANI.
Lore allows one to identify items that are magical, like wands & scepters with spell charges, weapons and armors with enchantments etc. Pretty much wasted points in my opinion since you can identify items with ORT WIS YLEM anyway. Better to have invested all those points into Attack, Defense and used weapon skill up to 30. Acrobat skill is also useful to avoid losing health after falling from higher above.

There is a secret door in wizard's room but it just leads out into one of the corridors and can be reached from the other side too.

I understand why I lost 1000 exp. points. That was because I idiotically lost 2 battles and game returned me to big gem taking 500 points for every dead. So stupid!! Maybe because I drank my nice wine.!!

Just killed the Metal Golem. From distance I hit it with 12 Frost fires and it kaput.
I recharged 3 remaining wands: Frost, Mass confusion and some which give me red circle to beat enemy, visiting the dealer Merzan in KK. He wanted about 50 golds but I offered these gems, rubies and so weiter.
Exp. points - 9870.
Maybe because my Attack and other combat skills are not so good I am no good in direct contact battle. I will up these parameters asap.

Last report from brave yoga.

I did finish nasty Morpheus.
How? 3 Frost spells and duel with my sword.
One time used the yellow bottle. It beat me with poison.

But the second of the Three hit me remotely with some fire hurricain.

OK. I will retreat now, prepare and organize the next attack. Think its 2 companions are badly hits by my Flame wind - Flam, Hur.

Some trainer refused to train me - Geoffrey, Fissif. Only Lobar up my Sword to 27. That has immediately good effect on the last duel.
I note that my hits are more deadly.

Leeches aren't plants though. They're those black things in water that stick on your legs and suck your blood. Useful if you're poisoned.

Heavy fight now against Lord Umbria, 2 golems and one new appeared monster.
I beated this and remaining monsters with 2 Flame wind, 4 Mass confusion and 12 Frost spells. The lord is flying above the sword level, y'now, and physical combat is impossible.
Still no result..

The lord has an unknown spell (some like my Flame wind, which is very strong).
One hit and yog back to B5 big gem.. More over this spell transforms to debris some my stuff left on the ground..
I have 2 variants:
1. To collect many money, back to dealer Merzan in KK and ask for Recharge of my already exhausted magic wands.
2. To return to near water zone and use fishing rod for fishes.
I will process after 2-nd one..

You missed on the best weapon in the game also...
Summon demons and slay them, that way you can quickly rise even higher than level 16. But they need a really good weapon for this method to be effective... which you don't have.
