There is an SVGA Version with Videos which is very cool and i liked it more than the classic game. Sure itīs the classic but this improved version brought more fun to me. Still canīt remember itīs name and where i lost it.

You can play sim city online here:http://simcity.ea.com/play/simcity_classic.php
Dunno why you'd want to. But its still quite cool.
P.S. Great Game (although 2000 was better(Yes i know its on the site)).

Dont think 2000 was better....this one was much more basic and so much easier then 2000...
That`s why i love this one :ok:
I loved this one too, but SimCity 2000 is a little more refined in my eyes.

Hi,
this is the Windows-Version (I think Win 3.x)...
Is there anywhere the DOS-Version available?

I'm using Windows XP and if I try to run setup straight off it won't work and if I try through DOSbox it says that I need Windows.

I've got the same problem
- anyone know a solution to that? [/b][/quote]
Works fine here.
All I did was:
1. Extract all files to a folder, not running the setup.exe from the archive.
2. Run setup.
3. Play game.
I didn't change any compatibility settings or anything.

The monster is attracted by pollution. you can't exactly get rid of it, but try to avoid it's appearance. It usually arrives at the scene, when you've got some really dirty areas. And now imagine what happens, if a nuclear power plant is placed in the middle of such an area...

Hi all !
I have the original SimCity on a diskette. I would like to play this game, but I have a problem: it asks me to enter a code, either a city name or a population, before I can play the game. (I guess it's to verify I legally bought the game.) I remember thoses codes were printed on a red-vine sheet. But I lost this sheet
(If I click 'Enter' a certain amount of time, I can play the game, but I can't do anything since a lot of disasters always happen. Of course, disableling disasters in the menu won't do anything.)
Do anyone have a copy of the code sheet ? Thanks!
I like sim city

I remember playing this game in the early 90s with my friends and having a great time around my first AT 80286. Everything was so simple in this first version, and yet you became very addicted to it as your city grew rapidly before your eyes... so as your funds inevitably turned red after a while.
One of the best games ever, no doubt about it.

If you do it good, good old Sim City was easiest than modern ones, there was very few things to mantain and you arent asked to lower tax rates.

I managed to find version 2 of Simcity Classic. Not only is the inteface cleaner, but there are also eight graphics sets to choose from, including a really nice high-res 256 color set. I would love to upload it to this site but I have no idea how to.

First register. Then PM site owner, Kosta, about this game. He'll give you a login and password for the upload server.
Specific instructions are here (http://www.abandonia.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2908).
I'm sure I can remember a version of SimCity which gave you little video popups every now and then, like an insider's look at some of the citizens of your city. Was this it?

I've downloaded the game, but the files seem to be corrupted:
1. In the game, there's no way to select either a coal or nuclear power plant... it just won't accept a choice so you cannot power your city. Meaning, playing the game is pointless...
2. the terrain editor's menu texts are all messed up.
Would anyone k nwo what to do about this, or even better, where to get the DOS version?
Thanks a million!

Does any have or did anyone ever play SimCity Enahanced CD? It was regular Simcity ported to the windows environment, but it came with goofy films clips and enhanced sound. And let me tell you, the film clips are pretty cheesy! In normal Simcity, when the newspaper reports flash up, or when the helicopter gives a traffic report, in SimCity CD full motion video clips out pop up. Anyway, I imagine its hard to come by these days, so I was wondering if anyone had it or had played it here.

I'm running SimCity Classic in XP and it goes way too fast! Even when set on "slow" I'm going through a year in about 5 seconds. Is there any way to slow this down? I also tried it in Win95 compatibility mode and it makes no difference.

Try using Dosbox (download here (http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/download.php?main=1)), depending on your CPU power it can be enough, if not and the game run still too much fast, slow down Dosbox with CTRL + F11 (just in case : here you can read the abandonia's tutorial (http://www.abandonia.com/main.php?nav=index&FAQ=1))
If for some reason you don't want to use DosBox, you can try to use some "CPU slowdown program" like Mo'slo or other similar :)

Super game thanks ... :ok:
A question: Anyone know where I can get additional tilesets (Future Europe, Future USA, Moon, etc..).
I remember having this version of Sim City with these additional tilesets on floppys, but seems I purged these disks for some other needs. :tai:
Now I got back to this game, and missed some futuristic views of this old classic.
Anyone? :sos:
ok. I found it on underdogs, finally. Don't you think it will be good idea to put it here too?

As a result of having the disasters off I always used to cut my fire dept. funding down to nothing. Haha.

I had the old DOS Sim City back in 92 or 3. I remember being able to get a score of the football game when it was in progress. If I remember correctly, the score was NOT in a dialog box, rather it was displayed on the gridiron in the stadium.
There was some sort of claw command that had to be entered (along the lines of Alt+S), but I cannot remember what it was.
I think it was documented in the original DOS instructions, as I cannot imagine figuring it out for myself.
Does anyone recall this little easter egg (the score) and how to reveal it?

Actually, yes.
Some of really old games don't have such a thing as uninstall function to begin with.
You just delete them from your HDD and call it a day.

This game is the windows version, so no need for Dosbox in this case. In the folder you unzipped the game to, run the setup.exe. After that install the game where you want to on your computer, and then you can play it straight from windows.
I would recomend running the Setup.exe as the Administrator to get the best results.

My MS-DOS copy has a virus, as it detect Avast! antivirus, but itīs and old virus, back in the first years of 90īs, itīs called "Anti-Telefonica", its our national company phone here in Spain (Against-Telefonica) in a default city file.
If you want to do some archaelogy about virus I can send you the game.:hello::sucks:
I remember that a friend of mine gives me a video game, I donīt remember the name of the video game, with a virus. And he tells me that this game has the virus, but It doesnīt hurts the computer. I take it and installed it. God...what an idiot I was then! :wall:
I think that one time I saw a virus that makes the letters drops down to the bottom of the screen lol! I think that back in time if I get the worst version of the virus, It will f*** off my computer...I remember some writings about viruses (I read it in a newspaper size computer magazine with black pages and white letters special article) that make your monitor bright so high that in the end, they burst in flames and sparks in front of you, imagine the screen, the pieces of glass flying...Hey! This scared me when I was young and learnt about virus!

But after checking again the video game from my hard disk and from the CD it was recorded, It seems to be a false alarm.

Well, was the game designed to work in 64bit? And furthermore, is the Vista control programme seeing it as a game or as a potential virus, as old DOSgame type .exe files are frequently seen as false-positives for viruses and trojans and so forth.

So.... will someone please answer the question about how to get this game to run on a modern version of Windows (FYI I'm using Win 7)? I've seen at least 3 posts saying they have the same problem as me: Can't run the setup file straight from Windows and if I try to run in DosBox, it says "This program requires Microsoft Windows." So far, no clear solutions have been offered.
Some have said they get the message but then are able to start the game. That's not the case on my machine as no executable has been created. Honestly, I wish I could just buy this game off of GOG...

That message means it's a 16-bit Windows program. You need 32 (or 16) bit Windows to run it. Abandonia has Windows 3.x download (http://www.abandonia.com/vbullet/showthread.php?t=27770) that you can run in DOSBox. Then run the game in Windows 3.x inside DOSBox.

All I did was:

3. Play game.
I didn't change any compatibility settings or anything.
