There is a mistake in the review!

You don't have to start from the begining everytime!

There are some numbers and letters you walk by every now and then. They are the passwords for levels. They don't apeare at the begining of the level though - but somewhere in the middle, but send you to the begining of a certain level if you use them at the start of the game!

You don't have to start from the beginning everytime! Sometimes pass are hidden that you got to reach where the pass is. There are also hidden weapons and hidden places that you have to discover.

Easy to gain life, easy to lose. But you can even finish the game from the start with lots of lifes left

The game is really wonderful, also you can pick letters from the word bingo and when you have that word you will get one live extra. Also if you complete a level for a 100 % you will get a bonus level!

I used to play this game for hours back when I was like 6 and I got it recently but I'm stuck at the second part of the snow level where the storm starts coming in I never seem to make it on time and I'm late by quite a bit. Anyone have a suggestion ?

This is a great game, in my opinion, one of the first games I´ve ever played in my old 386 (thanks, humble guys... :D ). But it had a problem: most of the times, when I started the game, the screen would start to shake vertically and only stop after a few minutes. Does anybody know why? Also, does anybody know the passwords? :help:

a prequel is something thats made after the original, but set in a time earlier than the original.

so i think in the case of these games, prehistorik 2 is the sequel, and prehistorik is the original, not a prequel to 2. if you see what i mean.

every time you start game there's an option of starting it as a begginer or an expert. the difference is in quantity of monsters and the possibility of moving further to the last level 10 (i am not sure if 10 is the last one). in order to start the game as an exert you need to press "1" - start level 1 and then push arrow on the keyboard, after that you have an option of starting game as an exert, by the way, the level codes here are also different then in begginer game.

Well, a question. I am an expert eater but i can't pass smow level. Actually i finished it, but in the black screen, where Prehistorik runs and counts his food (that falls in the pot) then he rus rigth screen and then all freezes. I'm stuck and no button works. Help!

yeah, im curious about it too. I mean, in the game, when that happens (in level 2) i cant see a think. i know there's a door (which sents me back to the beggining of the level, but besides that i cant seem to pass this part. any ideas?

did you know you can fly "up" with the rogalo ? you press down to gain speed and up to go even higher than before, try to get 100% bonuses in all levels :)

i remember playing the game from level 1 and getting to level 10 with like 12 extra lives :) oh well, 13 years ago...

Is this game running in DOS Box under Win XP? Because i downloaded this game from several sources and i get the same cash everytime even if i use DOS Box...

at first i tried to run it under windows XP in the compatibility mode. the game had really weird sound, but woked, until i hit the spacebar. it crashed immediately.
then i tried dos box. sound was ok, but the problem was the samw. as soon as i hit the spacebar, the game just crashes. but if i hit the up arrow, the game turns pink (not joking. really. ) and under dos box i get a message "not enough memory"...

there is an OFF MODE in the game which darkens the screen a bit . this OFF MODE is gained by taking an icon which is a sun writing "off" under it . there is one in LEVEL 2 .

Absolutely love this game.

So many damn hidden places to find. Absolutely hate it when you cant get to it.

I only been up to the last level a billion times 12 years ago - only to find this place where its hella spiky and hard to jump around only to die instantly from the spikes.

I simply gave up but satisfied that I have reached this far.

Using XP I can start the game but it hangs erratically, sometimes obeying commands and sometimes not - V V annoying. Did you ever find a way to fix it?

I strongly suggest you use DosBox (http://dosbox.sourceforge.net) instead of trying to run the game under Windows.
You can download DosBox here (http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/download.php?main=1).

If you have any problems with it, try having a look at the official FAQ (http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php) on the DosBox site.

Most of the stuff in there is not really needed, but youb would do best to familiarize yourself with the specific topics I linked to.
The mounting of your DosBox games directory, switching the promt to the emulated C: drive and clearing the screen from previous commands can all be executed from the [autoexec] section of dosbox.conf (http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php?page=dosbox.conf), so you won't have to re-type them every time round.
Frontend programs (http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php?page=DOSBoxFrontends) can help running DosBox with varying configurations for different games.
For both a more accessible user interface and oldschool feel, you can use Norton Commander (get it from our programs and utilities page (http://www.abandonia.com/main.php?nav=programs) - scroll down to the bottom to find it). NC might seem awkward at first, but in fact it is a very functional genuine DOS era file manager frontend. It has a plethora of functions that will help you in navigating around the directories, while still retaining the command prompt.

Though all of this might seem complicated, it's very easy once you get used to it. So remember:

I have some troubles there. 1* How can you get to the secrets directly under the start? 2* Has it something to do with the flyer? 3* Do you have to get the flyer with the help of the bees? 4* How do handle the flyer?

What can I say... u need to have at least 20 lives when you first play that stage.
Then you just have to memorize all the moves. :)

I completer that stage 6months ago and i can still remember exactly how it goes. :)

Hi, I love this game too, I played it about 10 years ago... However, I've always had the same problem: it is probably 4th level, but I'm not sure, because there's not any sign. This level looks rather like a bonus level... it appears after I kill the boss ("King Kong") in level 3. And every time I play this level, something happens with the game - it stops, "gets spoiled", keys don't work - I can only press Esc and exit game... Does anybody have similar problem? I suppose it's small error in the game (in this level), but I have no idea how to pass this level...

Earthquake.

When the screen starts shaking press down and keep pressing down when your moving. (this will come in handy also when the snowstorm hit in later level). It's explained in the readme.

If the screen gets messed up somehow anyway - hold down and move around - hopefully you'll get in one of the huts, that should fix the screen.

I also think there is a "kill me" button - you lose one life (F1,F3??)

Thanks to dosbox & abandonia , for the 1st time i heard the sound effect and other sounds in the game, after 13 - 14 long years.

So heres a cheat for you guys...

To enter any level without knowing the correct level code, enter the following 4 codes:

DEAD
C0DE
F00D
XXXX

where XXXX is the level you want to enter; 0001 for level 1, 0008 for level 8 etc.
Note that the codes contain the number 0, not the character O.
The levels in expert mode have a different number, you must add 000A (hexadecimal) to it:
for example, 0005 is level 5 in beginner mode while 000F is level 5 in expert mode; expert level 6 would be 0010.

I managed to pass the game. Snow thing is hard, and especially the last level. But it was too good to just quit.

In level 4, after King kong, you have to enter some huts (bush houses) to pass the level, how do you get out, there are no doors, i'm stuck!

there is something that looks like door (only it might not be black). Either that or just continue to the end of the screen. however i dont' remember going into any buildings to finish the level...

I still don't know how to pass level 4, can anyone giva me a clue. :wallbash: There are gifts in the huts but how do you get out, in the last hut is the thing that lets you pass the level.

well you need to pick up the cigarette lighter first before you can go through to next level.

i think you can exit the houses the way you came in.

if L4 is the one with trees then i know you are supposed to jump a bit more. sometimes into the unknown. there is also a shortcut there. only i already forgot where it was.


next one after that is extremely hard.

however if this is the Bonus level you need a hang glider to pick up the cigarette lighter in order to exit the level. at least that's how i remember it somehow...

Pick up the lighter. Go back to where you're standing in that 2nd picture and press down. Then go to the exit.

We know exactly what the problem is...the server is down. XD We just have to wait for it to come back up at the moment, when it does we will post a newspost on the front page to let people know.
