I think Reup really nailed the game in his review. It promises so much but then loses momentum and interest. Maybe, though, for really experienced and dedicated adventurers it would still hold interest and the puzzles wouldn't be so unsolveable.

I agree to the last statement.
Certain puzzles are insanely difficult.

See, now personally, I really like having the insanely difficult puzzles because that is very rare now in a lot of games. It was refreshing for me to have a game where I could pound my head into the computer desk again.

Got the game up and running with no problems....except....
I walk around and do nothing but get killed
Know I need a torch in the cave, but cant get to the wood pile from the right side
and can't move beyond that opening area couple of screens
Anyone figured out how to start with this? Figure with a kick start I can figure out the interface.
Could find no help on line either.
There's a help.bat file in the folder of the game. Run it for a couple of hints. However, even with these hints I had the same problem as you. In order to get through the cave you need torches, and the only place to get them is the big pile of wood -which is unreachable or so it seems-

I know this is an old thread, but I came across it while I was looking for help with Armaeth (Google Search).
Since then, I have beaten the game and it's actually pretty good. Or at least I thought so. It gets much better after you leave the first area and is much longer and more involved than I'd expected. I'd say it's sort of a cross between the early King's Quest and the early Quest for Glory games. There is some fighting. Most of the talking you'll do is minimal and with people that intend to kill or rob you unless you manage to knock them out or kill them first. Like the KQ games, some of the death scenes are pretty entertaining. So, save often and let Killian get eaten or otherwise meet his maker, occasionally.
Since I couldn't find anything online, I did resort to the help file a couple of times, but it never contained the info I needed in an easy to find format and sometimes not at all. So I ended up spoiling a few things for myself by even trying to use it. I finally just gave up and quit using it. Once I won, I read it all and discovered that things like how to get the wood for a torch is not even in there. It does tell you how to light one, which is no easy feat in the beginning, but even after reading that, I was still unable to do it the way they suggest.
My final score was 685 out of 725 points, so I missed a few things to do somewhere. I did find all the treasure, though: 13720 out of 13720 gold coins (or the equivalent in treasure).
Anyway, if anyone still needs help, I'll be happy to offer hints for Armaeth. If you flat out want spoilers you'll have to make that plain.
Just as a general help, it IS possible to get to the left side of the woodpile. What you have to know is that whoever wrote this game has their own idea of geographic reality and just because you went one scene to the left does not mean you are actually one scene to the left. If you find the scene with the low cliffs, you can get to the woodpile for torches. (If anyone wants specific directions, let me know.) Good luck!

Hi Bill
I have never written one and almost never use them, so it would be a looooooooooong time before I'd get one finished. If I ever decide to write one, I'll send you a copy (but don't hold your breath.) However, if you are stuck and need help at any points in the game, I'll be happy to give you hints (or spoilers, if you want them) to get you past the problems.

Can you please tell me where to find the axe, I have searched for days. Also, how do you climb down the well without falling down it and dying?

HI. I also could not figure this out, but I did bypass it. Drop all your goodies nearby (say, near the tree on the left of the fire), pick up 2 pieces of wood ("take wood" twice) then walk into the fire. You will die. Now use the resurection icon (man with wavy line around him) and walk out of the fire. There should be two burning torches amongst the items you dropped (you can see the small flame). You need burning torches for many areas, for light, eg in the bear's cavern and in the first secret underground place.

Hi, folks!
I've got a really stupid problem in Level 2.
I'm not able to open the stone portcullis! I've tried so much, I've put in uncountable much words in the input field, but without any success.
Obvious I've done something wrong.
I've read the parchment that says (in my opinion), to open the portcullis I've to put in one of the names of the people who build the stone portcullis, so namely Armaeth or Tinuel. When I've put in 'Armaeth', the Text: 'The stone portcullis is already closed' appeared. And when I put in the Name of Armaeth's wife, the word "Tinuel" in the input field, nothing happened already again.
Then I've tried a lot of other combinations, but also unsuccessful.
Does anybody know if I may do something wrong or can anyone tell me what I've got to do to get in the stone portcullis? That would be fantastic...
Thanx, Marcel

Hi anyone
I had started to write a walkthrough for my sister's benefit (she lives on a different continent to me) based on the hints file, and the Abandonia forum, plus my own endeavours, but I got stuck in the begining of game level 2 (the dwarfs) because I cannot find the axe to open the hatch in the well, and I also kept falling down the well. If anyone can tell me how to find the axe, and how to climb down the well without falling and dying, I will be able to continue writing the walkthrough. It will take time, but I will get finished eventually and could then post it at Abandonia.
Regards
Wendy
Hello. Where is the axe ? I can get down the well using the step by step moves up and down.
This is pretty old, so I'm assuming you found the axe after 2 months. Sorry I didn't see this sooner. Any questions about the game, just ask :) I'll do my best. I finished it, but remembering is another thing.

Hello! ;-)
I still have my problem in Level 2 when I want to open the stone portcullis in the dwarf-cave.
I don't know the right word to put in! When I input "Armaeth", then I can read "the stone portcullis is already closed". So there must be another word to put in to open it!
Please help me if you remember it, I don't know what I'm doing wrong!

Hi,
having read in the review that saving/loading is tricky I decided to run a test right after the intro. Saving seems to go ok and a file appears in the correct directory, but when I try to load using the exact same info it tells me "file not found" and crashes. Am I missing something?
I am running Windows XP with Dosbox 7.0 (w/ D-fend). The savegame file is in C:\Armaeth.
I use the following parameters when saving:
Disk: C
Directory: Armaeth
Savegame: ARM
Number: 1
Thanks!

Well to light the torch you have to revive the fire. Drop everything you have and then walk into the fire. Sorry but I have no idea how to relight the fire without geting killed. I guess you have to type then" Light the torch with the fire" But I am not exactly sure. If you have a lit torch and it´s burning out you have to type: light the torch with the torch. Well that´s it so far. Maybe anyone can help me? I am at the very beginning. I can´t figure out what to do. Maybe it´s the best to tell you what I got in inventory
old rusted key, silver coins
precious casket, shovel, iron lever, bucket (with hole), whip and a torch. I also removed the thorns on the slab. where can I find a key for it? Please tell me anything you know. Thanks so much in advance

The only place I could not try, that I can think of, was up the big tree - earlier it said a bird took things up into its nest - however, I kept falling down and could not climb it - maybe the bird is huge and took it up the tree. Sol, could you climb the tree? Maybe the axe is up there - too heave for a bird, but anything is possible. If you find the axe, please tell me how to get it.

Hi Sal
I have just spent ages checking the 3 big trees on the oak-tree/magpie nest screen - I also could not get higher (like you) nor onto the magpie-nest branches on the right-front tree. I also re-checked inside and outside the woodcutters cootage, but still cannot find the axe.
Can anyone tell us where the axe is please?

Hi Wendy...progress report....I have climbed the big tree on the right hand side of the screen. I had to go up in the right place to get under the vines that are around the trunk of the tree. Unfortunately I haven't got any light so I am literally in the dark (don't ask its too long and involved to go into) I am sure there is something up there an I'll get some torches and come back. Keep you in the loop....Sal

Thanks a lot, Sal. My PCs motherboard and harddrive died (darn cat knocked CPU off desk)!!! I therefore have had to buy new PC and to re-start Armaeth from the begining, so it will take me some time to catch up again!
I also offered the full typed-out hints (from the game download) plus the detailed walkthrough I compiled (from the hints, the forum and my own playing experience of Armaeth) for the first two levels, and explanations of the icons, to Abandonia but no response at all. I have now offered them to www.mrbillsadventureland.com so if they respond I will send it to them. Very useful for someone struggling with the first part of the game!
If anyone finds the axe, PLEASE post its whereabouts on the forum.

Haven't been in the game for a while due pressure of work!!! i AM UP THE TREE AND i NOW HAVE TORCHES LIT UP SOOOOO I can see three big nests and am trying to get out to the one on the left of the screen. I save the darned game about every centimetre I go up the tree so i don"t have to start all over again. I would love to know what the icon which looks like a container with a rope or hook sticking out of it is for? I tried a couple of times to contact Abandonia too and like you got no reply... aaah well back to tree!!!.....only slightly in the dark now Sal

I have had a response from www.mrbillsadventureland.com - they are going to draw my maps more professionally, then they will load the material I sent them (see above) plus the maps, on their site under Walkthroughs.
I have not had time to play further, so am still hoping someone can post a response on this Abandonia Armaeth forum re where/how to find the axe!!!!

Hi Sal, I am back again. Been too busy with work, but have now managed to re-play level 0 and now will start Level 1 again now - checking carefully for axe as I go. CAN ANYONE PLEASE TELL US WHERE THE AXE IS?
The icon that looks like a container with something sticking out of it, could be one of three icons, and I am not sure which one you mean so here are all 3:
(To toggle an icon, left-click on it. To use an icon, right-click on it. Or vice-versa if you use left-handed mouse-settings)
- icon that looks like a padlock = toggle : lock/unlock (or open/close)
- icon with stick, chain and ball = toggle weapons (ball-and-chain, or sword) - I have not needed to use this yet, but we no doubt will need to do so in level 2
- icon with shape like steps and a lever sticking up at an angle = walk (move?) faster/slower - I have not tried this yet, maybe it will help before starting to go down the well?
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THE HEART ICON DOES?
Sal, have you had any joy with the 3 nests? They looked empty to me (I had got there last time, but did not realise that my lit torches enabled me to see on that screen! - because the nests looked empty, I did not try to climb to them, so I hope you found something one of them).

Hi Sal and everyone,
I have finally re-played up to start of level 2 (i.e. opened second secret entrance). Good news! I have discovered a few important things:
- when entering the secret passage below the dolmen, lock the slab ("lock slab with key") while standing in front of the gold keyhole half-way down the stairs (otherwise Prytwen might not appear and you will be dead-ended, as happened to me while re-playing last week after losing all my previous saves)
- Sal, do not waste more time with the tree/nests (thanks a stack for all your trying, Sal!)
- you will find the axe when you enter the second secret entrance (look carefully at the screen while you are going down the stairs of the second secret entrance).
- N.B. if you are playing on a modern PC, either use an old PC if you have one, or else use DOSBox - I have had to revert to my old Pentium 200, because of "timer"-problems on my modern PC (e.g. can't climb down well when using modern PC, but I am sure DOSBox will solve that on a modern PC) :-) I can climb down the well fairly easily (falling a couple of times also) using my old Pentium 200.
In case you can't find the second secret entrance, read the game's hints file, and you will find method to find the clue to the secret entrance.
Best wishes, Wendy

Hi Sal : well done!!!! A short while after I got the axe, the game told me my torch was consuming itself, so I had to divert to go and get more wood - I got several pieces, lit one, and dropped the rest in the throne room, for "in case" later on. So if it has not happened to you, be aware it will probably do so.
Now I am back at the entrance dome (just inside 2nd secret entrance, where portcullis is, killing and being killed by dwarves!
Sal, someone earlier in the forum said he could not open the portcullis, because the magic spell words would not work. Would you like to post the answer to this, please - what exact words must be used? - to save us all a lot of frustration, by the sound of it.
Incidently, when Armaeth gets too frustrating, I take a break by continuing with another game - I have just finished Broken Sword : The Angel of Death (also known as Broken Sword : Secrets of the Ark) i.e. Broken Sword 4. Once you get used to/understand the quirky controls, it is an excellent game, going back to the spirit of Broken Sword 1 and 2.

Okay, found the answer myself, thanks. To open the Portcullis door, stand near it (but not right against it) and type "Tinhuel Armaeth" with a space between the two names. Note correct spelling of names, Marcel, if you are still around!

Hi Sal, are you still around? I have found the board which you need before you can get to the sword. The board is NOT in the mines. Do you need me to tell you where the board is? What progress have you made yourself?
(I had technical difficulties (game freezing, even on Pentium 200 under Win 98 2ed), so had to change back to WIN XP, but now with DOSBox).

Wendy! good to hear from you..All I did to open the portcullis was to type in Tinhuel. When I typed Armaeth I was told the portcullis was already closed so I assumed that one name was to open one to close. I got out to the ledges/platforms but can't find the board YES I would love to know where it is. I dropped all my possessions in order to get to the centre ledge and will get them on the way back. I brought several torches with me when I left the upper regions.I must admit that I had to use magic to resurrect myself while I was getting the axe as those pesky dwarves kept killing me off before I could get it and climb back to get the shield!! ....regards SAL

 Just in case it sounded like it was easy to open the portcullis I have to say that I must have typed Armaeth's wife's name Tinhuel as Tinuel a million times and couldn't get anything to happen. Then I thought the secret was hidden in the names (like an anagram) so I filled pages and pages with made up words and tried them and nearly went crazy until somehow as I read through the parchment for the gaazillionth time I realised the that I had been typing in the correct name but wrongly spelled. I noted that Marcel was typing Tinuel instead of Tinhuel. Hope you have opened the prtcullis by now Marcel......SAL

Hi Sal : great to see you are still persevering. We will get through this game successfully by helping each other, isn't it great!
Sal, are you please able to tell me how to get through the mine to the ledges/platforms? I fortunately saved before entering the mine, but I cannot find the correct route! Mazes confuse me enormously!
1) To find the board, go as follows (my screen-names should be descriptive enough to give you the idea you are on the right screen), and keep saving as you go:
starting from entrance-dome/portcullis room : go right (under entrance-ramp) to forge-room, then south to waterfall/river cavern and across the bridge, and on same screen turn left, and exit into wooden-bridges room and save, then cross the bridges saving as you go (you will die many times until you get it right) and out at left, into grotto-room with bats, then left into small room with "glow" up north. Ensure you save here on two different save-numbers, for safety!!!.
The board you need is in the room to your north, where the glow is. I will not spoil it by telling you more, but before you try to cross the lava-bed, you must figure out the answer to a "problem" you encounter as you enter the room!!! Do not waste time trying to cross the lava-bed until you figure out and use the solution to this "problem"! I did cross first, and cursed like hell when I got back because I had to revert to an older save, find the solution to the "problem" and use it, and then had to repeat the whole painfull crossing to the board and back! And yes, save several times in the lava-bed room while crossing to the board and back!!!
2) Yes, you are right: by my typing "Tinhuel Armaeth" to enter the portcullis, the game must have taken the first name (Tinhuel) and opened the portcullis based on that. I later saw a dwarf close the portcullis (while I was outside) by calling out "Armaeth", so you are correct that "Armaeth" is the correct command to close the portcullis. And yes, I also struggled to open the portcullis at first. Correct spelling is vital!
3) A tip re the dwarves (in both the pre-portcullis and past-portcullis areas) : the results of the fights with the dwarves seem to be random, so if you save when you see a dwarf, then if you lose the fight, just restore the game and try again. After more than one/several fight-die-restore attempts, you will kill the dwarf, or will knock him unconscious, in which case type "kill dwarf with axe" (very unsporting, but essential!). After a few seconds, the dead body will evaporate, leaving the way clear if the body was blocking your path. The dwarves in the past-portcullis area (guardroom, mines) are much stronger, so the random-win does not come up so readily, however I did once succeed in killing the stronger dwarf.
4) By the way, the hints file says one of the dwarves in the guard-room has got the key to the pantry, so when one kills a strong (past-portcullis) dwarf, I suppose one must look/search the body for the key, but how to do so with dwarves swarming all around remains to be seen. Maybe the key will remain where dropped - in which case, one must remember the spot if there is no time to pick it up.
Sal, please advise re the path to the ledges. Regards Wendy

Okay, eventually struck it lucky and found the path thru the mines to the ledges, so do not trouble to answer re that. I will include it in my walkthrough-in-progress.
Regards, Wendy
PS I still do not understand how to close up the empty lines on the forum when using the ""reply" function. When I have typed my text, the only buttons I can see available to me are the "+" and "-" buttons plus "Check post length" button (and guided mode button). Lower down, I see two buttons "Add reply" which I click to "send" the reply, and "preview post" which does not call up any more buttons. Can a moderator or someone please advise how to close up the empty lines (the minus button closes some but not all).

Hi Sal, good to see you are still hanging in there!
If you are referring to the bridge in the room to the left of the waterfall/river room (which certainly sounds like it) then be aware that as soon as you are on the screen, you must stop walking (very quickly hit the left arrow-key, because that is the direction you are already walking in (or hit the up-arrow), which then brings you to a stop) then save!!! then hug the rock wall to north of you. In other words, move up, left, up, left, up etc to hug the wall. (Save often all the way thru this screen!) When you get to where the path goes over what looks like small rocks/rubble, at it's most northerly part, when you cant go up any more just walk straight left, and stop just past the rubble, and save. Then very carefully negotiate the part where the path turns downward to the first wooden bridge (which lies facing straight downwards "north to south"). Save. Walk directly south straight down along the wooden bridge (if you fall off, you started off too near to a side). You will automatically stop up against the south "rock" (black shape). Save. Walk straight right, watching where the second wooden bridge seems to extend to. Stop and save. This second wooden bridge (going up from south to north-west) is vey deceptive - it looks like it is flat planks. but you are actually seeing the side plus top of the planks. Unfortunately, you have to zigzag up here, falling often at first, until you get the feel of where the top of the planks is, and where the sides are. You will probably err too far to the left at first. Save just about every centimetre. When you get to the ledge on the other side of this second bridge, save again, then carefully go up and around to left along the ledge, hugging the north wall as much as possible, and then out the screen to the left of the ledge. Thie ledges/bridges screen/section reminds me of the classic Kings Quest tricky mountain paths!
I have a problem with the game kicking me out to the desktop every time I try to go in a certain doorway. So I will have to install DOSBox on my old PC and try on that PC! Sudden darn compatibility problem (even under DOSBox on my Win XP PC)! I will be away till Saturday, then will tackle this.
Also, so far I cannot figure out how to make a pact with the witch. (She is not far from the room south of the lava-bed room where the board is, if you have not found her yet). So I keep getting killed by her, or having to try to run away.
Anyway, I will come back to the Forum on Saturday 29th Sept to see if anything is going on.
P S the lava-bed "eruptions" is a case of saving then observation of the events in the room for a while first, then reloading, then sheer timing and good luck. Save often! But do not forget to first solve the problem you are told about when you first enter the room. Regards
Wendy

PS The bridge has not collapsed, it is just out of sight behind the bottom "rock" (black shadow/dark part) and runs dead-parallel to the bottom of the screen (i.e. straight left/right). You can judge more or less where it is by looking at the direction of the two boards. Regards. Wendy

:kosta: Wendy..........thankz once again...I am working myself up to trying again..I know I can do it ..I have been using the mouse and I notice you are using keys..That is probably why I am overshooting the path each time I will try the keys and see how i GO.. just by the way I kept an old computer for years just so that I could play DOS games. I played "Krondor " (the original ) over and over again. I love that game the old comp finally crashed for good and I can't seem to get Krondor to play in dos box....Regards SAL

<_< Wendy....I DID IT I got the board....I had to use the keys just as you said. The mouse was not reponding quickly enough and I came off the path every time. I now have the problem of getting out with the board without being hit by rocks from the geysers also my torches have been blown out. When I get over all of this I am going back for the sword because I think this is one of the bargaining chips with 'ol witchy anyway catch you later...Regards SAL

Hi Sal I got back from my trip earlier than I expected, so here I am again.
Sal, you almost certainly need to solve the problem of the torch being blown out, BEFORE you go across the room to get the board (as I tried to say in my previous "hint"), because I do not think you can solve it after you get back with the board (at least, I could not find a way to do so). I could NOT find a way to relight my torch when I got back across the room with the board. So if you have not got back across the room with the board AND have not found a way to relight the torch, then probably you should not waste time trying to get back across the room, but must go back to your saved-game before you tried to cross the room to get the board and first think how to solve the torch problem first before even trying this lava-bed room. (Actually it is very simple, I could have kicked myself when I realised what the answer was: it comes down to better planning (hint, hint).
Actually, if you have not got the sword yet (which I had presumed you had got, seeing you found your way through the mines-maze) AND if you did not solve the torch problem at the lava-bed room, then it might pay you to go back to the saved-file you did (I presume) after exiting the mines-maze at the "cliffs and central platform and sword hidingplace" (all are on the same screen) and get the sword first, because to get to the witch you need to go back to near the lava-bed/geysers vicinity anyway.
I will check regularly to see if you need more help with all the above.
PS if you found a way to re-light the blown-out torch, please tell me how to do so, in order that I can include it in my walkthrough-in-progress. I found a different way to overcome the problem!
Regards, Wendy

Hi Sal
Sorry, I got myself confused re collecting the sword before the board!!! Sorry for mis-leading you - I must have still been too stressed out from my turbulent air-flight! Yes, you indeed have to get the board before you can get the sword!!! Sorry, sorry, sorry!!!
So, how do you get the board? Well, remember as you enter the lava-bed room (and you can see the board at the north side of the room), you get a message that the draft in the room has blown out your torch? Well, revert back to the save you made in the room below (south of) the lava-bed room (before you entered the lava-bed room), and drop your still-alight torch/es here. Save. Now enter the room (which is lit by the lava) and seeing that you are not carrying your lit-torches, they cannot be blown out! Now painfully/carefully make your way across the lava-bed room to the board, saving as you go. "Take board". Save. Now come painfully back across the room, saving as you go (I used about 3 saves going, and 3 saves coming back). When you exit this room, remember to pick up your torches again (which are in any event giving you light in this room, which without them would be pitch black), and breath a sigh of relief!!!.
By the way, after I did all the above, and went back via the mines-maze to the ledges/ sword screen, and used the board to get the sword, I thought that it would be simple to now go back and intimidate the witch (because I have the sword in inventory) into making a pact. Not so : I cannot find the correct method. I tried things like 'talk to witch", "make pact with witch", "make alliance with Minas Thyl" and various such combinations, to no avail. I also tried"show sword to witch" etc, but I still get eaten (quite amusing, but frustrating!). So I have not found the correct method yet. (Also have not had enough time to experiment sufficiently, due to having been away for a few days, and being exhausted upon my return).
So, if you find the answer re the pact with the witch, please post the answer on the forum for us.
Many thanks. Wendy

I WILL try again...IWILL IWILL IWILL I WILL NOT LET THIS GAME BEAT ME AAAAAAAAH....sal
[/b]
Hi Sal. Hang in there! I agree about the AAAAAAAH feeling of frustration, but you WILL beat the game for sure - we are very close already. It is actually a terrific game, which is why it keeps drawing us back for more, despite the frustrations.
I got into the witches lair (it is called Addanc per the description you get when you click on the "lady" icon at top-left of screen while in her lair - see especially the reference to Addanc in the game's hints-file!!). Later I got the wand. (I am not sure if it will work better if you get the wand first, it may, but then again, remember witchie is desperate for her wand!). Later I have read the spellbook (you need the wand), used a particular spell, killed the witch and got the talisman!
Now after killing the witch (it was fun!), according to my analysis of the hint-file, all that is left for me to do is to deal with "the Sarhuls", "Erin Huviel's enchantment", and then "get the Lost Crown". However, my game keeps crashing at the steel door to the left of the dwarves' pantry, beyond which I presume the Sarhuls (etc) are.
Notes (I do not want to give too much away and spoil it for you):-
To get past the witch once by distracting her (I think it only works once!), see what standard game-icon you could possibly use (hint hint). However, only use this when you think you really need to!
To make a pact/alliance, I could not find the right words (if words are the correct method). However, I noticed that if you encounter witchie several times (saving before getting close, then dying most times), she occasionally makes you a longish speech about an alliance to find her missing wand - it seems to occur at random : in my case near but outside her lair - and I could not find a way to accept, but simply walking away seemed to temporarily satisfy her. Please let me know (for my walkthrough) if you find a better method.
I will keep monitoring the forum to see if you get stuck and need help. Regards, Wendy
PS how do you use the "clickable smilies" on this forum? (like the one where you are bashing your head on the wall)

Well done, Sal!!! You are doing great!!! By the way, the bridges/ledges screen gets a bit easier with practice, but never totally easy. Good luck with wichie!!!
Please tell me how you "make a pact" with wichie, if you find out, so I can include it in my walkthrough-in progress. Also, please tell me how to solve the problem of the witch throttling you (it will happen later, unless you are lucky!), if you find that answer. You stay choking for a long time, with agitated music, so obviously it is giving you time to take some action, but I could not figure out what to do each time and consequently kept dying.
I am having to take a forceable (involuntary) break from the game, because the game/my PC keeps kicking my right out of the game whenever I try to go in the steel door to the left of the dwarves pantry.
I tried 3 different versions of DOSBox on my Win XP PC, but no good. Then I tried my old PC - no good - then I tried the 3 versions of DOSBox on my old PC, but they do not work at all with such an old PC.
So now it seems I will have to try Virtual PC on my Win XP PC (free Microsoft program) which I read about on the internet, and which I know one of the IT techies at work uses on his home PC and recommends for playing old games - so I will have to pay him to come and install it and set it up, plus install my old DOS disks as the operating system within the "Virtual PC" - and all without knowing if it will even solve the Armaeth problem!
If you by any chance finish the game before I have a chance to say this: please keep coming back to this forum for a while, so I can please pick your brains re the last part of the game, for my walkthrough, in case I cannot get the game to work and hence cannot complete the walkthrough without your help. - the gaming world will be very grateful, and me too!!!

Hi Sal
I have just registered a few minutes ago, with no problems at all. Make sure you use the left-hand option for your age group ("...before 1994", I think it said).
N.B. Obviously, remember the login name and password you enter on the registration screen.
After registering, you get an email response almost immediately, asking you to click on a link in the email to "complete" the registration process. Thereafter, you are registered!!
Hopefully the IT techie from my work is coming tomorrow evening to install Virtual PC (with DOS embedded as its operating system) on my Win XP PC. I hope this will get me past the technical problem that is preventing me from continuing with Armaeth. So near and yet so far!!!
Best wishes, Wendy ^_^

Hi Sal, My techie friend set up Virtual PC running DOS, but my game-character runs like lightening across screen, very amusing but virtually uncontrollable. I managed somehow to get him to the steel door, but as he went through it, the game immediately kicked me out to the desktop - hence the same problem. Darn!!! back to the drawing board!!!
Witchie: okay, you do need to deal with her at the lava CRATER (not the lava bed room where you found the board, but the room immediately south of witchie's lair). Before you worry about witchie, go to the lava crater room, and look at the crater at right/below the entrance to her lair. If you look at the north wall of the crater, you will see it is much lower. So, that is where you (and witchie) can walk onto the crater. You will also see there is place to walk west then south of there, skirting around the crater anticlockwise to wait out of her way as she goes onto the crater. Try walking there, it is quite narrow at north so make sure you know exactly whereto walk, before trying it out on witchie.
I am goint to post thisnowto check on something, and will be back in a few minutes.

Witchie (continued)
Hi Sal, I do not know how to entice witchie to the lava crater ROOM (maybe by showing yourself and walking in the direction you want her to go, until you get to the lava--crater room?) but I discovered that if I waited at the low wall of the crater (north wall) then witchie would appear at theentrance on right of crater-room after a short while (maybe save quiclkly when she appears, if the game allows you to?) but you then have to act quite quickly thereafter.
SO the method is : before witchie appears, stand at north of crater, and type the "walk on lava" spell-word. Then save, and wait for witchie. When she comes in the room and STARTS to move TOWARDS you, quickly type "drink hydromel" (alternatively "drink bottle", per hints file) and immediately (when you are told you can walk on lava) go quickly inside the crater to just past the centre of the crater. Type "drop emerald". Get out the crater quickly and walk anticlockwise around crater to its left side, out of witchie's way (if she gets you, you were too slow).
(P.S. Occasionally she walks south of the crater instead of homing in on you, so if you can save when she appears, it would help - but I did not try that, I am not surethere is enough time).
Witchie should walk into the crater to get the emerald (while you wait at immediate left-side outside of crater), then she burns up and dies. SAVE. Now quickly go get the talisman (dropped where she died) and the emerald, and quickly leave the crater before your magic expires.
If you can't do so, then before you enter the crater to retrieve the items, "drink hydromel" again (there are only 2 doses) and go get the talisman and diamond and get out the crater. SAVE.
Then dance around the room laughing for joy like a maniac, and singing: Witchie is dead!!! Got talisman!!!
Good luck. Regards
Wendy

Hi Sal
Please do me a HUGE favour . It looks like I will not be able to solve the "kicking me out of game" problem and hence I will be unable to go any further than the steel door next to the dwarves pantry (in their guardroom). Please can you make notes of what you do past that point (the Sarhuls etc) and post them on this forum, so I can use your notes (plus the hints-file) to complete the walkthrough. You will be doing a great service to the gaming community, and also it will make me feel better about not being able to experience the rest of the game for myself!!!
I presume you have the games hints-file to help you, and it does not seem as if there is a lot left to do, so it should not be too onerous to complete the game and post the info on this forum. I will be monitoring the forum and your progress with great interest - and will make suggestions too if I can, especially if you do not have the hints file!!
Many thanks. Regards, and good luck, Wendy :sos:

:brain: Canyou see me leaping and dancing and singing around the room shouting" the witch is dead, the wicked old witch is dead" well if she's not dead she has disappeared anyway..I got her on the lava bed and you were right Wendy I had to be quick on my feet to get out of there but she wanted the emerald and that was her undoing !!!! I went back to the guardroom which was clear as I had already killed the remaining dwarves with my mighty sword!! I got the ham from the pantry and opened the door and was confronted with the SARHULS all behind bars... It took ages to get all but 2 out and shut the door again..I think the ham is to lure the Sarhuls into the cage but I didn't use it.I then went L into what is called the magic kiosk and because I had the talisman I was able to go inside and get a round crystal type ball and a cushion. The Ball apparently is some kind of communication device and there were originally two..one for elves and one for dwarves.. haven't got a clue what to do next as the help file is pretty useless..I think I might mosey on up to the throne room and see what happens next. I will have to be careful of the Sarhuls that might be running around. I am still rather intrigued as to what the cliff and ledge was for ...didn't get to the top but feel something is there...Did you try to slow down the game character with the alt key If you go to F1 it shows you all the controls I had the speeding up problem too but one of the controls says revert to normal game play I think..might be worth a try...It worked for me a couple of times...Have to go out tonight and heavy work load tomorrow so will have to wait until Friday before playing again....Best wishes SAL

I went south in the room BEFORE the geyser room and came to a cliff with a narrow path. It is climbable but I am still working out the exact process..no idea where it leads...Have you been there.. Best wishes Sal.
:brain: Hi Sal, yes, I was there and discovered that if you go to the bottom of the path and stand slightly right of the rock-thing at foot of path, you can climb vertically straight up a fair distance then horizontally right, and when you exit the screen at right, you are on the screen where Segomir's lair/skeleton is. so I did not go further (seeing we already had got the parchment). however, I do not know if there is another route from the cliff-screen to somewhere else, I did not try that, I just presumed it was only an alternative route to Segomir.

Hi Sal
Well done indeed!! Great work!
1) I have had a great idea to try to get my game working again. I am going to try to amend my registration to allow members to see my email address (I had chosen not to), and you could please then (once you are registered too) please :sos: email me your saved-game from when you first entered the Sarhuls area (i.e. after going thru the steel door) - that will get me past the point where the game kicks me out all the time. Please, pretty please!! then we could continue to help each other with the game of course.
2) Thanks a lot for your suggestions, I will try them out.
3) did you download your copy of Armaeth, and if so, from what website?, please advise! Maybe I have a different, buggy release, or maybe the download-site I used (Abandonia)'s game is slighly corrupt?.
Regards
Wendy

HELLO ANY MODERATOR
See above, and please advise: I amended my registration, but it seems your system (quite cleverly) allows a member to send another member an email, but does not show the member's email address (or am I not using the facility correctly?). If so, I presume the only way for Sal to send me the saved-game mentioned above (to get past where my game keeps crashing), is for me to email her using your forum's "hidden address" email facility, and to include my actual email address in it, and for her to then emil me using her normal email (not Abandonia forum email) soshe can add the saved-game as an attachment. Is this correct??

:brain: Hello...Iam Baaaaack.....Wendy I downloaded my copy of Armaeth from Abandonia.I will gladly send you a copy if you need it...I have tried this registration thing again but while I use the name SAL I can't seem to do so. It is a pain because this is the name I like using...I'll have a serious think about another name and try to register AGAIN.... I went up to the throne room but couldn't seem to do anything there...downstairs at the moment going over old ground and dodging a sarhul I think I may have missed something in the room with the kiosk..but I can't think what..when you go through the door into the room with the sarhuls you will see another door at the back with a green cross on it and a keyhole at the side this is the door to open. When you go in you are into kiosk room..This is where you get the ball and the cushion. I tried putting them on the throne in the throne room but they only seem to go on the floor at the foot of the throne. Apparently there is another ball somewhere which was used in conjunction with the one I have to transmit messages between dwarves and elves...I know I am probably missing something that is staring me in the face but I just don't know what....Regards SAL

I have changed the adress on your previous account; you can now use your e-mail for registering the new account.
As soon as your new account is working, I can change your login/username to whatever you prefer; consider the different username only a temporary thing.

Hello everyone, this is a multiple response:-
To Dosraider and 5th Horseman:
-- thanks a stack for your suggestions/help. When Sal is registered, I will try the suggestions out. Much appreciated. :kosta:
To Sal:
-- hopefully, with 5th Horseman's help, you will become registered soon! Then I will send you my details and you can please send me the gamefile as you suggest (but change the file extension from .zip to .doc, so Norton does not block it when it gets here, and I will change it back when I save it), because at least your version of the game is proved to work. You can also please send me your saved-game file from just after you enter the Sarhuls area - if the game-file does not work on my PC, then I can then try loading your saved-game, it will probably work fine! (This evening I downloaded Armaeth again from Abandonia, and re-installed, but it still kicks me out at the same place, but maybe your downloaded game was done at a different time and is a bit different - it is a long shot, but worth the chance).
--re the crystal ball:
have you tried using the witches wand with it? The game's hints file said the wand has "other uses", and I wondered why they said that, so maybe its other use is to get the crystal ball working? Try "use crystal with wand" or something like that? If you have not already tried it.
Maybe the crystall ball must lie on the cushion in the throne room then use the wand on it (if you are correct in surmising the throne has something to do with it)?
Maybe there is somewhere else the crystall ball must be placed to activate it (maybe even without the wand)?
Maybe the crystal ball must be used in the kiosk room with the wand?
That is all I can think of for now re the crystal ball.
-- F1 key : no I have not tried it yet, thanks a lot, but I definitely will - my @#$%&*@ PC's power supply unit went faulty and my PC died, so my PC was "in hospital" for a couple of days and I only got it back this evening!!! (I could use my laptop for emails etc in the interim thank goodness). But then I had to catch up on other work this evening!
-- the fault that kicks me out of the game seems to be directly related to the transition between one screen and another, because it occurs exactly as I go through the doorway each time - it is as if the game is looking for the next screen but cannot call it up, because it instantly kicks me out to the PCs normal Windows screen and gives an error message * ERR 022 *. The internet does not help re the error message, either, and nor does my old DOS manual. :wallbash:
Good luck with registering, Sal, and good luck with the crystal ball mystery.
Regards to everyone. Wendy

Hi everyone
WALKTHROUGH FOR ARMAETH
The incomplete walkthrough for Armaeth is now available at http://www.mrbillsadventureland.com/
The walkthrough is a complete spoiler from start to end, so do not use it unless you really are stuck!!!
The walkthrough is complete for levels 0 to 2, but incomplete for level 3 (in fact we already have a lot of new material to update into level 3, actually).
I will update it further when we have completed the game, using my and Sal's input/discoveries : thanks a stack, Sal!!! Plus I will incorporate anyone else's further forum inputs, thanks! (You will see on the walkthrough that acknowledgement has been given to the forum too).
The walkthrough will take gamers very far in the game, even as is, so I am sure it will help a lot when needed.

Hi Sal
I can see your name in the members listing, as joined today. Hooray, sorted out at last!!!
I also see that there is no email icon in your details, so I cannot email you, however you can yourself email to me!
Please go into the "members" link and use the members-search facility, and type Wendy, then two Wendys will be listed, so look at the row that shows Wendy JM - that is me. Then click on the red email icon in the same row, and you will be able to email me (it warns you on that screen that I will be able to see your email address when I receive your message).
When I get your email, I will email you back with my email address, and then you can please (PRETTY PLEASE) send me a saved-game file from just after you go through the steel door.
(If you did not save at that point, just call up the save you did before that point, please, then play up to the point where you have just gone through the steel door into the next room, and save (use a much higher number than you are at currently, then it cannot interfere with your own game-saves).
I will be so grateful - lets hope the save you send me works, but I am 90% sure it will!!!!!!!!
Thanks a million. Regards, Wendy :)

Whooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeee I LOGGED IN and no problems....Wendymy old registration did have my e-mail and private contact but no problem if you want to e-mail me I will send ASAP the game I downloaded just in case there is a difference and the game as I have played it so far. Game save 8 is the one where I am outside the steel door. I could go in and save again if you want that just so you can be sure you are right in the sarhuls den. I went up top and revisited the big dolmen near the stairs that lead down because the info daid that this place had been used for secret ceremonies but nothing yet. I really think the throne room holds some sort ofclue but I haven't found it yet. Congrats on getting the walkthrough done. When we finally beat this game I am going to replay just for the fun of it. Its 9:30am in my time zone so Ive got to go......Best wishes Wendy andn thanks again to 5th Horseman......SAL

Hi Sal
Hooray, so glad your registration is sorted out, and thanks for your Abandonia-email (PM), which I have replied to, with full details.
Yes, please send me your Save game 8 to see if there is a difference, plus please use your Game save 8 where you are outside the steel door and then go in through the door and save again, so that I can be sure I am right in the sarhuls den, and send me that save game also. Hence, I can try the "outside door" one, and if that does not work, I can try the "through door" one. Hopefully, one of them will allow me toget back into this fascinating game, and we can continue to help each other, plus of course by so doing, it will help others who read this forum.
Also, please advise what the game says as you enter the room, because of course your save will not be able to include that - maybe there is a clue in what it says, re the problem you are trying to solve.
Many thanks indeed, Regards, Wendy

:brain: Hi Sal. Thanks a million million million!!!! Your save 8 (before going through the steel door) worked perfectly, I am now through the steel door looking at the caged Sarhuls!!! And I have immediately saved at that point. So thanks to you kindness and help, I am back in the game.
 I have a couple of questions re how the inventory works (it seems I missed a trick/misunderstood something). Early in the game, I was told by the game that "you cannot carry anything more" so I assumed (it seems incorrectly) that the game can only hold as many items as there are inventory-spaces showing on the screen.
However, you said you did not drop much inventory at all, so it seems you have in fact still got most of your inventory, even though in the saved-game you sent me I canot see more than 10 items on the row of inventory-slots/boxes. So what controls do you use to see all your inventory? i.e. how do you scroll the inventory across to see more items? Also, when I use F10 to see a list of inventory, it shows overlapping inventory "lists" so how do I see the overlapped/underneath one? Please advise!
:thanx: Once again, thank you enormously for your help with my technical difficulty!!!
To Fifth Horseman: Thanks a million for all your help to me and Sal, which bypassed my technical problem and resulted in my being able to continue with this game.
Regards, Wendy.

Does anyone have any idea on how I can get past the copy protection thing for Armaeth? I tried several files from different sites, but they all seem to be copies of the same files of Armaeth so I can't get around the copy protection issue, I can't find any copy of the game's manual so I can't find the answers to the questions before being able to launch the game,
Perhaps this is a sensitive subject but why the heck do they have files which are copy-protected but call them abandonware? Any help would be greatly appreciated.......since I spent several days trying to figure this out already.

Hi Matrixlaser. Welcome to this fascinating game Armaeth.
To bypass the "Numerical array control..." , just hit your enter key on your keyboard. After a few seconds, the title screen of the game will come up. (If this does not work, then you presumably have a copy-protected game. The game download from Abandonia (www.abandonia.com) is not copy-protected).
Wait a few seconds at the title screen, then hit enter. If no reaction, you did not wait long enough. When the text fields (game introduction-story) come up, read them and hit enter after reading each one. At the last "enter", the game will seem to do nothing for several seconds. Wait, and after a while, the first game-play screen will come up, with you standing next to a river and near a small waterfall.
Also, be aware that sometimes there is a delay of several seconds at some points whhen playing the game e.g. when restoring a game, it may take several seconds before you see a reaction, and just as you think it is not working, the restored game appears.
Make sure you have installed the game in its default directory/folder, it should be in c:\Armaeth, otherwise the game might seem to save, but later when you try to restore, it will probably fail to restore.
To toggle through the icons at top of screen, click on the old-guy icon on top right. It will cycle through 3 different sets of icons (some of which remain the same, and some different, in each set.
When you save a game, use 3 alphabetic characters on the 2nd-bottom field, and on the bottom field use 3 numeric characters (then hit enter).
In case you have not seen the earlier post, there is a walkthrough at www.mrbillsadventureland.com - it is complete for levels 0 to 2 but not for level 3 which is the last level, which we are almost complete and will update the walkthrough when we complete the game.
This is a lovely game, but with some difficult sections. Enjoy it!

:whistling: Wendy...I'm having lunch so just dropped by to let you know that the items I dropped as far as I can recall were bucket, shovel, hydromel bottle(empty) and Flask (empty) hit F10 and the inventory comes up but yes it does overlap and I don't know if it scrolls across I could not get it to do this. Because I kept track of the stuff I got I am basically sure the above items are the only ones I dropped..I am at a complete standstill in the game..spent a long time up top at the big dolmen trying all sorts of things but ..nothing. I did the same in the throne room and again.. nothing I have tried talking to the crystal,I have tried putting it in the throne room etc etc etc ... I even went back to the woodcutters cottage but so far nothing (sigh) ...regards Sal

Hey folks, I am very sorry but I just can´t find this silly sword, I think I am getting crazy. My english isn´t the very best, so maybe one of you can tell a german girl "in easy words" in which screen the sword is to be found. Well, I hope someone can help. Maybe you can start your description in the witches lair and tell me "from there you have to go 1 screen south and then 1 screen left then two screens north" something like that. I would be sooooo happy. Thanks in advance and many greetings from Germany, Jasmin

Hello Jasmin
(I used a German/English dictionary to help - I hope the German is the correct words):-
Have you already got the board/plank? If you do not have the board, you must get it first. Go south from witches lair then east, then north into lava-bed room (german = vulkan ?). If you get stuck, see a previous post on this forum how to get the board.
If you have already got the board, then from the witches lair, go south, then west x 4 to the waterfall/river room, then north to the forge (schmiede ?), and west to the entrance-room/portcullis-room (portcullis = stone-door). Open the portcullis (have you found the parchment (permgament ?) it gives you the magic word to type to open the portcullis door), then go right, into the mines maze (mehs ?). On the exit of the maze you will find a cliffs (very steep hills) screen. The sword is at the other side of the cliffs (steep hills) screen - use the board to cross the gap.
(See my walkthrough at www.mrbillsadventureland - it is a walkthrough of levels 0 to 2. We will also put maps there soon).
Regards Wendy

<_< Wendy.. another quick visit to the forum before I have to go to work....When clicking on the ball the blurb says that Erin made 2 balls so that the elves and dwarves could communicate a bit like a two way radio (transmit/receive) WHERE IS THE OTHER BALL? Hello Jasmin
I had the same problem, and could not solve it. Eventually I got a couple of saved-games from Sal (bless her!!) which worked 100%. We are not allowed to put our email addresses on the forum, so if you want to, you can do as follows :-
1) first register as a member of this forum: you can register with the "REGISTER" button on top, then click on your age-group (e.g. ...born before 1994, I think it said) then fill in your details. You will quickly get an email from Abandonia, which gives you a link you have to click on to complete the registration.
2) then after you finish registering, you can log in as a member, then look up my name (Wendy JM) under "Members" (grey bar at top of page) and you will see a red email button on the same row as my name. Click on it to send me a forum-email (its called a PM = personal message) and type your email address in the email to me. I will then send you the saved-games.

Hi Jasmin
CORRECTION (If you read this post before I altered it) : We were using Sal's saved-game. She left the bucket in the screen where the sword was, she dropped it before crossing over to get the sword. Gotta go to work, am running late. will check in again this evening.

Hey Wendy, thanks for telling me where to find the bucket. Well I guess the only thing I can do with the crown is placing it on my head, but then the game is over. I hope I can work out what it has to do with the kiosk. I don´t believe that the kiosk is only there to take the ball and cushion. If anyone works something out please tell us all.
Talk to you later

Thanks a stack for all your help which enabled me to now finish the game. It was great fun (and tough in places).
It was a devil trying to figure out how to use the crystal ball, but perfectly logical when you finally know how (thanks a lot to you both, Sal and Jasmin).
I will now be able to finish the walkthrough during the coming weekend, including a listing of "fortune" (value) and merchandise. Looking at all we discovered between us during the game, I can account for almost maximum fortune, and 28 merchandise points. I even figured out tonight how to carry the 90kg gold nugget plus everything else!!!
I would have to replay the game to be able to do a points list! Maybe I will do so when I have had a longish break.
SAL OR JASMIN or anyone else : :sos: where did you find the dwarves gold dishes, please?
Many thanks. Regards, Wendy.

Hey Wendy, I think I found the dwarves dishes on a table where the dwarves sleep (in the left room from the "first portcullis" I hope you know where I mean. If not just tell me and I try to explain it again. Please Wendy help me finish the game :-)

Hi Jasmin, Thanks a lot, I will check this out (re the gold dishes) on the game itself tomorrow evening (it is getting late!). I appreciate it a lot.
With regards to the elves and the enchantment, perhaps you/we may have already finished the game, and the elves maybe are not meant to appear? I will get a further indication tomorrow after I have added up my list of the "fortune" points on my calculator at work. However, my/our final points-score (using Sal's saved-game to be able to enter the Sarhuls room and then finish the game), was 660 out of 725, so yes, maybe we were suppose to communicate with the elves too before crowning ourselves. Sal (and I) was surprised that no people appeared for the final scene - so maybe we do still have to find out how to use the crystal ball to communicate and call them!!!
Incidently, if you carefully read the final descriptions/story info after automatically going up to the throne dressed in your kingly robes and crown, the info seems to be telling us that there is much more to come in future - I think the manufacturers/programmers intended to write a sequel (Armaeth 2 ?) but I presume they never did - maybe the company closed down. Or did they in fact publish a sequel, and we need to know what it was called so we can obtain it?
Regards, Wendy
:max: Hi Wendy and all,
Just got home and a quick visit to the forum...Wendy I got the dishes in the room to the R when you come down the path from the secret entrance. You can't see the room it just looks like rocks but it turns out to be the dwarves mess-hall I think with emphasis on Mess!!....Funny but the game led us on to think that there was more to it than there really was. I loved the levels one & two quite challenging. The first part of level three was good too but its almost as though the originators of the game didn't know how to finish it off properly...Regards SAL

Hi Sal, Glad you are back. Thanks for your message and the info re the dishes. Much appreciated. Yes, I missed the mess-hall, I will look at that tonight after work. Much appreciated.
With regard to the ending, now I have had time to ponder over several things, I agree with you and Jasmin that there is more to it. If I think of the info re using the crystal to communicate, plus the "flat" / disappointing ending, plus the score of only 660 out of 725, then I definitely think we have to find the secret of the communication (before crowning Killian), plus the non-appearance of the rest of the dwarves (if there were guards, there must be more dwarves somewhere), and I suppose the elves will appear too if we find out how to communicate with them. Maybe we have to communicate with the dwarves and with the elves!
Perhaps the answer is in the kiosk-room /crystal ball room, as you guys said earlier. It has magical walls! When means maybe they help to communicate, or perhaps are concealing yet another secret entrance / door? And / or some further use of the talisman?
Will tackle this again on the weekend a bit (but my housework is also overdue!).
Best regards, Wendy

Hey Wendy, bad news, I didn´t come any further, too unfortunately. I just thought of the opening of the game. Well you can see pictures of Minas, Prytwen (the thief) Killian and Armaeth. Well all of them except Armaeth appear in the game, though I thought that maybe Armaeth will appear in the game too? It would be so cool if he broke the enchantment and crown Killian as the new king, but I think this isn´t gonna be to happen. Wish you much luck to find the remaining points.
Best wishes, Jasmin
P.S. Please tell me if you work out something new

Hi Jasmin
I doubt if Armaeth would appear, the game seems to imply he is long dead (I think), although it definitely would be cool if he appeared.
I have posted the problem about using the crystal ball to communicate with, on the forum at mrbillsadventureland (the site where the walkthrough is), so we will see if someone on that forum or this one comes up with the answer. I will also keep trying.
Hello anyone,
:sos: If anyone can help us with the last part of the game, after getting the crystal ball, please post onto this forum re the solution / correct actions to be taken. We figured out how to "read" the crystal ball, but cannot figure out how to use it to communicate - or if there is something else to do, before ending with the crown-sequence.
Please please help!!! :wallbash:
Many thanks,

Darn, I forgot to log in before posting the above, so it shows me as being a "guest". Oh well, never mind.
Points score: using Sal's saved game, and going on from there, and adding in the points for some items Sal had dropped, I (we) have got totals of:-
660/725 score
18250 points/18720 treasure (which includes having found out how to carry the 90kg gold nugget)
28 /(don't know correct maximum) of merchandise-value
So, if we look at the score (short of 65 points, which is quite a lot) and the treasure (short of 470 points), then we are definitely missing something important - I am sure it is to do with our not being able to use the crystal ball to communicate with.
Oh well, we will keep trying.
Please help, anyone!!! :sos: Thanks, Wendy

Hey Wendy, I saw that the emerald is still in the lava, Maybe it gives you some more treasure points or it is needed in some other way. If it wasn´t important, why is it that important to Minas? Well if you look at the emerald the description says that is is magicial and made by the elves. Hm, it was just a thought of myself, that it COULD be of some more need. By the way, did you work out what to do with these obejects: Whip, shovel and pitcher? I have no idea. Okay, thats all for now. Best wishes, Jasmin
WendyMann
12-10-2007, 04:17 PM
Hi Jasmin
Do you know where the pitcher was located? Neither Sal nor I had the pitcher? - please tell me where to find it???
Good question/suggestion re the emerald! However, I hope the emerald is not the answer, otherwise we are stuck, seeing that we do not have it, and the hydromel is finished so we can't walk on the lava again to fetch it!!!!
The items Sal did not have in inventory, that I had myself got before my own game crashed, were as follows: emerald, hut's chest-key, gold ingot, gold coins, shovel, lever, bucket (as you know Sal left the bucket at precipice screen where sword was hidden, and had dropped the shovel and lever somewhere else).
Sal however had the dwarfs gold dishes which I had not found (but she and you told me later where to find them).
I have tried using all of Sal's inventory on the crystal ball but without luck.
Yes, the emerald actually gives you 300 treasure points but it is already included in the game-points total of 660. (I know the game points would still include the points for actually finding the emerald because when I dropped items one by one to see what effect they had on scores, the treasure or merchandise points would go down but the game-points would remain unaltered).
I am going to try again this evening to find the solution to the crystal ball communication. Hope I have some inspiration/luck.
Regards Wendy
Hello Jasmin :kosta:
I just had a look (eye-icon) at the emerald in one of my earlier saved-games, and I think you are right!!! Well done!!!!! The game often gave clues for which one could only later find a use, and this also sounds like one. The fact that the emerald was made by the elves AND is magical, definitely sounds like it could be the answer to communication with the crystal ball .
Hello Sal :sos:
When you have time, how about please (pretty please!) re-doing the "kill witch" sequence at the lava crater and get the talisman AND the emerald please, and then please re-play up to the point of just before opening the steel door, save the game, and then go through steel door and resave again, then send the 2 saves to me please - I will forward them to Jasmin also. Then I will try to trap all 4 Sarhuls for us all, and send you two the saves. then we can try out the emerald on the crystal ball. I think it sounds very likely that this is the answer to communicating with the crystall ball and hence to getting a decent ending to the game!
P.S. For fun, I went looking for the bear, starting from the crystal ball/kiosk saved-game and going back up to the outside world. Remember, the bear's "fur is of great value" per the game's hints file, but I only found his skeleton (bones), on the screen where there is a single tree with a horizontal branch extending over the top of a small plateau on the left. Presumably the bear died of hunger. So I guess that when we have a weapon (perhaps the sword) we are supposed to go back to the bear, kill him and get his fur (skin him with the sword?), for extra points!!!
Best wishes. Wendy

Hello Wendy, I think I found the pitcher in the room right of the forge. I hope this is the right word. Well there is a little cell with chains on the wall and the old pitcher was lying on the floor. I hope I am right. Well I hope Sal will get the emerald and save the game after entering the steel door. By the way, I guess you will get more points if you catch all 4 sarhuls (I think that´s how they are called) How did you manage to catch them? Or how did you put the ham in the cage without being touched by the sarhuls? Okay, all the best

Hello Jasmin, thanks for the info re the pitcher. I had a look, and found it. I think I left it behind myself because the description said it was of no value, and I suppose that is why Sal left it too. Anyway, I checked the scores before and after taking it, and only the merchandise score goes up by one. However, maybe one needs the pitcher to use later, who knows? Once again, thanks a lot.
Unfortunately, while playing the game, I did not check with each "action"/discovery/item re how much the actual game-score changed (I did not originally intend to write a walkthrough!), so I do not know by how much the points change if you trap all 4 Sarhuls, or even only one. When we have (together) beaten the game, I will probably go back and replay it for fun and I will then check how the game-score changes for each action etc.
Jasmin, Mrbill has now loaded my latest updated walkthrough and maps onto his website www.mrbillsadventureland.com, so you will be able to see there how to trap all 4 Sarhuls it is quite tricky (difficult).

^_^ Hello to Wendy & Jasmin,
Hope you have the saved games by now and are right in the thick of it again. I am about to have another go at the Sarhuls but don't think I will do any good..Can't wait to see what happens when crystal and emerald meet!! Wendy I had to be quick on my feet to get the emerald. After I got witchy I quickly took another swig of the lava potion and managed to get the talisman and the emerald before it wore off..Talk about elevated heart rate!!!!Wheww.. By the way did you ever figure out what the heart icon was for ?....Regards SAL

Hey Wendy and Sal,
well I didn´t find out what the heart icon means so far, but I can´t wait to receive your Saved Game, Sal :-) I am soooo curious if something happens when crystal ball and emerald meet. I don´t think so, but I´m hoping it nevertheless. Okay, I think I should do some cleaning. Oh Wendy by the way, I just started to write down, which score you get for which item/action. Wish you still much fun with the game. Hope to hearing from you soon, that I can see what happens with the emerald and crystal ball. Maybe if you touch those items the dead armaeth will appear somehow and with the heart icon you can revive him. He can break the enchantment and calls the elves and crowns Killian. I know I have a weird fantasy LOL <_<
All the best, Jasmin

Hello Jasmin and Sal.
No, I did not find out what the heart-icon is for neither, Sal. Maybe Jasmin's imagined ending is right!
I just love your fantasy/possible solution, Jasmin, it is beautifull (and clever).
I am going to try to get the missing items before I try to trap the 4 Sarhuls, in case we need the items for the last part of the game. It was quite difficult to trap the Sarhuls the first time, so I do not want to have to go back again afterwards.
 Sal, can you remember where you left the following: gold nugget, gold ingot, 15 gold coins (I think the coins are in the mines).
I have retrieved the steel lever.
Okay, I had beter start looking in the meantime.
Jasmin, when you have finished writing down the scores for each action please send me the info for the walkthrough. I have the treasure scores and the merchandise scores for each item, but not the game scores (out of 725) for each action done/item found. (I did realise you get 30 points for turning the bucket into the crown).

Well done, Jasmin!!! Please tell us, how did you get the fur? Did you kill the bear? How and where and with what? And at what stage in the game, i.e. after getting to see the Sarhuls area, and then going back outside, or when?
Hi Sal and Jasmin, I have now got the gold ingots (from table/bench inside left of witches lair) and 15 gold coins (from killing dwarf that was still inside the mines, searching his body, then waiting for his body to evaporate so I could pick up the 15 gold coins). I afterwards went back and trapped the 4 Sarhuls again!!!
My method of trapping the 4 Sarhuls worked again (see walkthrough), so it was not just luck - but it is very tricky/difficult dodging Sarhuls while doing it!!!
Sal, now I just need to know please 9if you know?) where the gold nugget is (maybe it disappeared together with Prytwen?), if you know where the nugget is, I can go fetch it (and re-trap the Sarhuls again if necessary, but maybe it will not be necessary).

Hey Sal and Wendy,
Well I didn´t kill the bear, it died itself and the fur and the gold nugget are lying on the stairs (when you go down where Prytwen is. You can´t see both things, it is lying on the upper part of the stairs. Hope you know what I mean. Alright, hope I helped you. Well I don´t think that the emerald and crystall ball are working together. I don´t know what else I could try. Hm, I thought, maybe Armaeth was cursed to. I mean if the bucket is the crown and the shovel was lying beside the bucket maybe the shovel is the cursed king. I know this sounds weird and rediculous, but WHO KNOWS. Sorry my fantasy :-)
Have fun girls.

Well done, Jasmin!! Thanks for the info.
I still think the emerald has something to do with the missing points, and maybe to do with the crystal ball - otherwise why, when you click on the emerald with the eye-icon, does it say it is magical, it was created by the elves, and it has an eerie green glow (or something like that).
Also, presumably Prytwen dropped the fur and nugget which you found, Jasmin (he was missing from the jail cell too so I presume he had escaped) so I wonder if he has got something further to do with it - why would he have dropped these on the stairs - it is not logical ???
Anyway, we have done well through our efforts and co-operation together, plus earlier info on this forum.
After fetching the missing items (except for the key to the chest in the hut), we ended up with the following final scores at the end of "our" game (i.e. as reflected on my final score-screen):-
665/725 (short of 60 game points)
18370/18720 (short of 350 treasure points)
29 merchandise points (maximum unknown).
I will probably have some more tries, and hope we find the missing points. However, the game was a lot of fun, anyway!!!
Thanks for all your help, Sal and Jasmin. I will update your info into the walkthrough, when I have finished trying some more to find the missing points.

Hi Jasmin,
Thanks a lot for the info, I appreciate it. I unfortunatey got busy, so I did not go any further yet. However, I will go look at the skeletons. Another mystery : if Prytwen got the bear fur, then why did he drop it and the nugget, then go back to the jail and die. (He certainly was out of the jail, and the door was open, when I looked a bit earlier!!). Hmmm!!! Interesting!!!
I doubt if the key to the chest in the hut will help, as you say, and it probably is only worth one or two merchandise points - according to my earlier notes, its fortune and merchandise points were 0, but maybe it was worth some game points. If you find it, you can see how many points, by checking all 3 scores before and after picking it up (use the icon on the same row as the restore and save icons : it looks like a sort-of big money-bag, as you probably know). Otherwise, if you already have got the key, drop the keys one by one in different places on the screen until you drop that one for the huts chest. Then check all 3 scores. Then pick up that key and check the scores again - the difference in any score that changes, will be due to the key. Anyway, let us know, if you do fetch the key, re what it's score is.

:ok: Hi Wendy & Jasmin.... I have just come in from work and dropped by the forum to check in..Gosh you girls have really been busy!! Wendy I remember locking Prytwen in the jail cell so his skeleton is there now. The big nugget I left there because I did not know how to carry it. The other nugget I left near thestairs leading down from the slab. It disappeared . I did not know how to carry it. I finally managed to get three sarhuls in to the cage and then tried and tried to get the emerald and crystal ball to work but so far no go..Jasmin your ideas about endings seem very good and a lot better than the endings so far. I must admit Jasmin I did wonder about the shovel..why did we need to get it..what purpose did it serve..If we get a perfect score does that mean EVERYONE dwarves elves etc will appear...Hmmm......SAL
 Wendy & Jasmin......Just a quick note I did open the chest in the woodcutters hut right at the beginning of the game but there was nothing in there. I am sure I kept ALL the keys because I had no trouble opening anything..I had to repeat myself a couple of times until the right key came up but whatever I needed to open...opened.The last dwarf (in the mine) I did not kill on the replayed saved games mainly because I just wanted to get back to the magic kiosk with the bucket. This is where some of the gold coins would be...I was thinking of going back up to the throne room with the emerald, ball and talisman or even to the big dolmen again.. Jasmin has made me think again.. are we really finished or is there more...SAL

Hello Paco
Thanks for your map. It is very elegant with the screendumps, but of course it also has its disadvantages (e.g. same screen repeated 3 times, and several repeated twice, etc).
I believe there is room for both styles of map - some people will prefer yours with pictures, and some will prefer mine where one can see all the paths at one glance leading into/out of a particular screen - without repeating the screen in more than one place.
So yes, go ahead and make maps for levels 1 to 3, they are in any event much more geographically-logical, which also makes it easier. I have not submitted the map for level 3 yet because we are still trying to see if we have missed an area or something (and in any event level 3 is very simple so no-one is likely to get lost in the meantime).
P.S. Rudeness was not necessary("this *Dingbum* there")!!!

Hello Sal
Thanks for clearing up the mysteries. I think I must have omitted to notice the extra skeleton the first time I went back to the jail (after using your saved-game for the Sarhul area), hence I thought Prytwen had escaped.
With regards to keys, it is not important at all, but there should be 5 keys altogether and you had only 4 in inventory, so I checked, and the missing one is the one for the chest in the hut, which it seems is not used anywhere else. The hut's chest-key is a single red-and-black key (whereas the jail keys are a "set of 2 red-and-black keys with keyring"). The chest key was in the chest itself - and I am still vaguely wondering why we did not need to use it, or the chest for that matter!! Hmmm, another mystery!!!.
I agree with you : "Jasmin has made me think again.. are we really finished or is there more..".
I am having a busy time, but will get back to the game soon, I hope!!! Lets hope one of us (or another forum contributor) can find out what we are missing!!

Hello Paco (or anyone else),
Have you played Armaeth to the end of level 3? - if so, did you find a way to use the crystal ball to communicate, or did you maybe find something else to do after entering the kiosk/crystal ball room (other than crowning Killian)? If you did, please (a huge please!!!) post the info on this forum - we very much would like to finish this game properly.
Thanks a lot.

 Paco, what does this word "Dingbum" mean? I have never come across it before..Our fellow gamer Wendy has made a wonderful effort to help others playing this fascinating game "armaeth" I personally value the help she has given me...If this word is a rude one, then shame on you. If you have played the game through why not share your knowledge without resorting to illmannered remarks......SAL
:whistling: Wendy.....I am sure I had that key BUT....I did replay quite a few games so could have omitted doing it again... I am starting to get the urge to go back to the beginning and replay the whole thing. I am becoming convinced that getting the whole number of points plus treasure MAY be the key..AAAh well its worth a try. By the way the game with the sarhuls (all 4 trapped) does not seem to have the emerald in it. Did you notice that the Talisman had writing on it but the blurb said no one can read it but a wise man. I tried with the emerald and the wand but either I am not getting the commands correct or it just doesn't work...Gotta Go ....Regards SAL

Hi Sal
Thanks a lot!!!.
I have just checked my saved-game (SAV160.AAA) and the emerald is there - stand where you can see what you are going to drop, face forwards (south), and type "drop emerald" and see if the green emerald appears at your feet. I have just done so, and it is there. If the emerald is not there when you try to drop it, then let me know and I will send you a copy of the correct save (but cannot understand what is wrong, in that case).
Yes, you are probably right re the full game points, and the talisman description also had me curious. I am also going to re-start the game, and will be alert to any clues we did not "resolve" in our previous passes-through the game.
Hey Jasmin, how about joining us in re-playing Armaeth, to see what we can find out re the missing points and the ending? We make a great team!!! Plus anyone else on the forum who wants to join our "team", of course.
P.S. I have just submitted the latest updates to the walkthrough and to the points-list, to mrbill, so he update them into the walkthrough on his website in due course.
Okay, gotta go to work.

I have not submitted the map for level 3 yet because we are still trying to see if we have missed an area or something (and in any event level 3 is very simple so no-one is likely to get lost in the meantime).
P.S. Rudeness was not necessary("this *Dingbum* there")!!!

Wendy.

Thanks a lot.[/b]
no need to tell me what i can do, because i read this thread what your Group do. I will help but the mapping has priority to me before the gameplay. You are not in a hurry or?

Paco, what does this word "Dingbum" mean? I have never come across it before..Our fellow gamer Wendy has made a wonderful effort to help others playing this fascinating game "armaeth" I personally value the help she has given me...If this word is a rude one, then shame on you. If you have played the game through why not share your knowledge without resorting to illmannered remarks......SAL[/b]
dingsbum is a german word, so Jasmin should know what it means. Yes it was rude from me. It should be a joke, but that didn't work.

Hello Paco
Thanks for your explanation, and I appreciate your apology too - all is forgiven!!! We are all working together in one cause (and had put a huge amount of work into it), i.e. to enjoy our games, and to help each other and use "teamwork" when we are stuck!
Good luck with making the maps for the remaining levels : as I said, there is always room for different views, and in this case, your different maps, especially with the screenshots, which looks really elegant!
No need to re-do level 0 map, it serves an excellent purpose in its own right, and I doubt if it could be improved upon, with the illogical geography of the level.
You will find that levels 1 to 3 will be much easier to map with screenshots, because they are MUCH more logical. No, there is no hurry, so take your time as you gety a chance.
Best wishes, Wendy
Hey Paco
When you have time, I have a question for you, please : I would love to know how to take screenshots (I like learning new but non-complex PC skills). Do you need a special program/utility, or is there a simple way to do it?
I have occasionally done a screen-print, by using alt+printscreen to copy to clipboard, then going right out of the game, and calling up MS-Word, then doing Ctrl+V to paste it into MS-Word, but that is quite slow and does not always work.
If you are willing to disclose your "secret" please share it with us?

Hi Jasmin
Thanks for agreeing to re-play with us! Great!!! Good luck with the scores-list. I will also tackle that on my side too. Have you seen the treasures-list and merchandise-list at the end of my walkthrough? - and when mrbill updates it with the latest info I sent him, you will see we are missing only 350 merchandise points (which could be one item, or several small-value items).
Hi Sal and Jasmin,
We were missing only 65 game-points - and I have suddenly realised what some of it will be : remember early in the game, we could not light the wood at the fire without using the cheat - well, I bet some of our missing points are to do with lighting the wood correctly (to get a burning/lit torch).

I'm not Paco but:
If you're on dosbox:
Hit CTRL+F5, screenshot is taken and stored in \dosbox\capture folder as *.PNG.
You can take as many as you want, they are 'auto' numbered.
If you want a winprog for screenies: Irfanview is pretty good and freeware.
http://www.irfanview.com/
You find the screenshot item under 'options'.
Setup as you wish. (it's self explaining).
Just want to add that your topic is fun to read, even if I prob never will play that game (not my kind of stuff) :ok: .

i made the Screenshots with Dosbox. With CRTL + F5 you create a pic with 320x200 pixel in Dosbox Folder capture. you can even record your play as a video. In this Case it is CRTL + F6.
I use Paint indead of Word.

Just past/behind the tree come down almost level with the same lower rock then go right – you will go off the screen at the top/right between rocks to the secret garden.
why so complicated when you can made yourself easy with the Walk-Button? with the Walk-Button you get automatically through the mini-maze.
^_^ Wendy and Jasmin..... Yay Team!!I have started replaying the game ...just trying to get Prytwen again. Wendy did you know that you could get to the wood pile by climbing the big tree with the overhanging branch on the L side. It is quite easy, probably abit easier than the cliff. I am trying to get everything I can without using maps etc as I think (for me anyway) half the fun is in the exploration of the game...SAL

Hello Paco
This is a "multiple-parts" reply to your long posting:
- your new map of level 0 looks very good, I have not checked all the connecting lines (had a rough day, so my brain is frazzled!), but will do so on the weekend. Thanks a lot!
- your map of level 1 is very smart and correct. Thanks a lot!
- I think the white background is fine, it makes the colours look fine (and also saves on printing-ink!).
- coloured paths might help, but are not essential.
- thanks a stack for the "screenshots" info, and between your info and Dosraiders, I have learned a lot. Much appreciated.
- your points listing:
I did not keep a points listing originally because I had not intended to do one at first (nor intended to write a a walkthrough either at first) and I have had very little time to re-start the game, so I cannot yet check the game-points (action-points). However, your treasure points (not coin points because it includes non-coins) and your merchandise points (levels 0 and 1) are spot-on!! Well done!!!
- just one thing re points list : for clarity, please specify which door you mean each time (like you specified which key each time). Thanks
- okay, I have noted your request to test re Prytwen jail points : ("i dont know for sure if 10 points came from close the door after dropping Prytwen in Jail or something like that, because i dont always get it. so someone can test it out?").
I will hopefully get to it on the weekend - but Jasmin and Sal will probably get there first, so maybe they can also check this out.
- yes, I was stupid re the double-post - thanks!
- "why so complicated when you can made yourself easy with the Walk-Button? with the Walk-Button you get automatically through the mini-maze".
Thanks, I was using the keyboard arrow-keys everywhere, because so many places need fine control in this game, so I had nopt realised the walk-button made it easier/automatic. I will try it out, thanks a lot.
Many thanks for all your efforts, Paco.

Thanks for all your help, everyone!!!! I got into the website on first try this evening, and posted my reply on first try, also with no problems. Hooray, hooray.

Hi Sal
Yes, glad to be back, thanks a lot.
As Paco said, to lock the door behind you, just go slightly through the entrance/doorway, turn around and face south, then lock the door.
For anyone else reading this : after unlocking the jail to enter it, walk slightly in then turn around and "take" (pick-up icon) the keys on the right-hand wall just outside the jail - then if you get trapped inside, you can simply unlock from inside because you are carrying the keys.

Everyone have it, but you can only see your while Admin & Mods can see everyone Warn-list.
You can get a warning for breaking the rules.
For Example:
Flaming the Admin without reason get you a warning. so the 0% -> 20%. with 5 Warning (=100%) you get banned.
I see if i can find the Threads for that:

Hello Paco (and everyone)
Here are some responses to your previous questions, now that I have checked:
- the arrows on the map of level 0 are correct - so the map is really great, thanks a lot.
- your game-points are correct for levels 0 and 1 (but see below re jail's 10 points).
- Jail/Prytwen: see the following re game-points:
* When you first enter the jail, turn back and pick up the keys before going far enough to trigger the trap. Then do your thing inside the jail (get nugget, clean wall, read inscription), meanwhile the jail door locked behind you as you walked onto the trap. Now, when you want to go out, you have the keys, so type "unlock door with key" - you get 10 points for unlocking the jail door from the inside!!!
* you do not get points for locking the jail door when you have put Prytwen inside, but you do get the 30 points a few seconds after Prytwen wakes up, so you are correct there, Paco. (maybe you get 10 points for locking the jail door on Prytwen, if you did NOT get the 10 points earlier for unlocking it from the inside).

Hello team!!!
I have now managed to re-play up to the end of level 2.
Some interesting info/observations:
- the fire can only be revived by cheating (per the game's hints-file), so I wasted quite some time trying to find the "right" way to revive the fire :tomato: .
- you CAN light the wood in the fire (in the woods) without dying, but it is finicky - stand exactly next to (I stood to left of) the flames of the fire and type 'light torch with fire" - if you are positioned exactly correctly, you will not die.
- the bear can only die of hunger (per game's hints-file) - so do not leave the slab (to dolmen screen) open until you have killed all the weaker dwarves wandering around, otherwise one or more will get outside and the bear will make a meal of him (hence will not die of starvation)
- on replaying, I found that Prytwen's gold chain was not on him nor in his chest, and was very puzzled - however I later found it lying on the ground (near the well).
- when in the Segomir's lair screen, one sees "tiny specks that sparkle, but you cannot reach them from here". So I intend to go back to my saved-game there and try to reach them - maybe those are our missing game-points?
- for the record, I did write down the following game-points towards the end of the game while I was there:-
* trap 4 Sarhuls = 40 game-points (presumably 10 points per Sarhul)
* enter kiosk = 20
* look into ball = 10
* transform bucket into crown = 30
* wear crown and ascend throne = 50

Hi Sal
If you want to, for interests sake : try restoring the older saved-game at/near the jail cell but outside it. At the doorway unlock door then before entering, stay there on the step and "take key" which the game put on the hook to the right/outside of the doorway when you unlocked the door. Then go in, and trigger the trap so the door closes and lock automatically. Check score. Then "unlock door with key" and check score again to see if score went up by 10.
I have now got the sword and emerald and wand, and am off to try to read spellbook and deal with witchie.

Hi Sal
So sorry you are having problems with the game freezing below and in the lava-bed screen. I had the same problem on our original play-through, and again on re-playing. If you are totally stuck/frustrated, let me know and I can send you my saved-games - however, I may have done things you have not, or not done things you have done, so it is awkward to pick up from someone else (but very useful if all else fails due to system-problem!!!).
To unfreeze in lava-bed vicinity, I had to Ctrl-Alt-Del and then exit from the task-list, and re-start Armaeth. It took about 9 such attempts before I got an "unfrozen" passage through (darn frustrating!!!).
At the end of level 2 (i.e. before fetching the board in level 3) I got 325 game-points (which includes opening the portcullis briefly @ 40 points), plus 6590 treasure points and 15 merchandise points (which includes the pitcher too).

* you do not get points for locking the jail door when you have put Prytwen inside, but you do get the 30 points a few seconds after Prytwen wakes up, so you are correct there, Paco. (maybe you get 10 points for locking the jail door on Prytwen, if you did NOT get the 10 points earlier for unlocking it from the inside).

i never step in the Trap so i didn't need to open the Jail-Door from inside. thanks for the info.

Hello Paco
Thanks a stack for the great maps, they are really smart (and accurate). Good work!!
Thanks also for your table, which I compared to the one I have compiled over the last week or so.
I have the following input for you, plus an important question:-
- I did not get 10 points for killing the grey dwarf (maybe he is still in the mines or elsewhere, in my game)
- I got 15 game-points for looking into the nook in the well, but did not get 5 game-points for taking the shield.
A difference between us is what we regard as part of level 2: I included the following in level 3 (but it is not important, as long as we get the all these points during the game):
gold dishes 400 treasure/fortunepoints
fur 20 treasure points
QUESTION :sos: I did not find a dagger at all - please :sos: oh please tell me/us where you found it???
(dagger 50 treasure points).
Thanks a million,
Regards

there are 5 dwarf in level 2. There exist 2 gray dwarf with red pants but only one of both gives you 10 points. you have 325 points if the 10 points arn't from killing the dwarf then How did you got the 10 points?
There are 2 (or exist there more dwarf than i though?) more dwarf in the mines aside the 4 guard-dwarf in level 3. I am not far in level 3 yet.
i have figured out the mines, now i need to figures out how to map it. (it is complicated!)
sure you got 15 points for looking in the nook? if yes, then i will test it again if i have the savegame for it.
i make it like that:
A 1-10 for level 0
B 1-10 for level 1
C 1-10 for level 2
D 1-10 for level 3
http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/9672/daggerln6.th.png (http://img81.imageshack.us/my.php?image=daggerln6.png)
sometimes it's in the other red ring.
 Hello everyone,
Just on the way to work....I have gotten the board and the sword and the emerald and had tto go back up top for some more torches. I killed a dwarf up there and guess what he had the nugget and the bear skin!!!!!!!!! I am trying to get witchy now. I have 385 points I think I have everything so far. Gotta go...SAL

Hi Paco
1) Thanks a stack for the info re the dwarfs - I had not bothered to count the dwarfs, so I will go back at a later stage and do so, and will come back to you.
2) Yes, there was definitely 15 points from looking in the nook.
3) "you have 325 points if the 10 points are not from killing the dwarf then how did you got the 10 points?"
Well, I got 15 points from looking in the nook, less the 5 points you said you got from taking the shield which equals the "difference" of 10 points re the grey dwarf. Are you sure you got 5 game points from taking the shield? I think you probably got 15 game-points (not 5) and it was for looking in the nook, not for taking the shield. (???)
(You do also get 10 treasure points - not game-points - for taking the shield).
4) :kosta: thanks for the info re the dagger, I very much appreciate it - and it seems the dagger will be found anywhere in that refectory /mess room, I found my dagger hidden/out of sight behind the front wall (south on screen) - which is why I did not find it the first time round.
Thanks again for all your help!
Regards
Wendy
Hi Sal
Glad you got past the "freezing" problems and could get on with the game. These hiccups are very frustrating.
Your discovery re the dwarf carrying the nugget and the bear is brilliant!!!!!!
I thought the bear fell into the slab-entrance and died, but it seems the wandering dwarf must have left the fur there, judging from your discovery! Thanks a stack for the info, I love it!!!!
Well, gotta go now.

Hello Paco
I am really puzzled, because I was very carefully calculating scores and when they occurred.... However ..... I went back to my previous saved-game at the well, and twice replayed the nook/shield part. On both times, the game gave me no points for looking in the nook, but immediately displayed the shield to be picked up. On clicking on the shield to pick it up, the game gave me 5 game-points plus 10 treasure points.......so it seems I calculated the difference in game-points (score) incorrectly as 15 instead of 5, and also misjudged the time at which I got the points!!! :tomato: Sorry, and thaks for picking this up!!!!
Thanks again for all your help! :ok:

Hello Paco
Thanks a stack for your excellent points-listing.
I have checked your points-listing against mine, and your totals are almost all correct, but see below re a couple of differences (especially re the 10 points for the grey dwarf):-
GAME-POINTS (ACTION_POINTS):-
You show 10 points for unlocking the jail from outside : I did not get 10 points for doing so (I checked this at the time), but I did get 10 points for unlocking the jail from the inside. Hence we both got 10 points, but for slightly different actions. It seems the game reacts slightly differently, maybe depending on some previous action. Anyway, this makes no difference as far as end-totals are concerned.
You show 10 points for “kill grey dwarf”. I did not get 10 points for killing a dwarf, but maybe I did not meet that particular one. I will work through the level again and check as far as I can, but it is going to be difficult, because the dwarves wander all over the place (I previously found one in the chaos boulder room, another in the waterfall room, another upstairs in the vicinity of the throne-room, etc). I got 675 game points eventually, so if I add 10 points to my score, iro your grey dwarf, then I agree with your 685 points. Are you SURE you got 10 points for killing him? Because if not, then your final score would be 675 -so did you actually GET 685 points in your game, or is it a calculated total??.
TREASURE_POINTS
I agree perfectly with your 18420 treasure points (thanks a stack for the info re the dagger!).
MERCHANDISE POINTS
Your merchandise points total is correct at 29. Mine incorrectly showed 31 because I had forgotten to deduct 2 points for dropping the ham.
(I did not spot this myself earlier, because I had to use my game up to a point it crashed, then used Sal’s saved-game from the point my game kept crashing, so I had to “calculate” all the final totals).
OTHER ISSUES:-
Your questions re icons and icons:-
Unfortunately I never found a use for any of the following:
Heart-Icon, Food-Icon?
Whip, shovel and pitcher???
Maybe the food icon is to mislead you into thinking you must eat the ham?
Maybe there are uses for one or more of the above, which could account for our missing 40 (or 50?) game-points (action-points), and could also lead to discovery of items to make up the missing 300 treasure points.
Maps:-
Thanks a stack for the maps. Much appreciated.
A suggestion : maybe for map 3, you could break it into 3 maps : (1) an overview of the area, with just "mines" typed once to represent the mines-maze, plus (2) a separate map going to the cliffs, and (3) a separate map coming back from the cliffs.
For example, for the 2 mines maps, you could show the mine-screenshot repeated several times, with direction-arrows showing where you enter each one and where you exit each one (e.g. in from left, out from south and in to next mines screen from right (for example). I think you would only need one cross-over line. You would need a separate map fro going from guard-room through mines to cliffs (where sword is) and a separate map for coming back (which is why you would need direction-arrows and not just lines).
You could position each mine-screenshot to make it easy to draw the connecting arrows (i.e. not in a straight line).
Axe and door:-
"@Wendy it may no necessary wrong. "break door with axe" give you 10 points and get the shield give you 5 points. total is 15 points!"
Thanks a stack. I already had the points for breaking the door, so i think I just calculated (subtracted) incorrectly!
Once again, thanks a stack for everything.
Best regards
Wendy

Hello Sal
Thanks a MILLION for trying the saved-game for me. What I think this is telling me, is that the problem is not caused by a file my PC is lacking (which was a possibility), but is something within the game itself (a bug). Maybe you did some action or sequence of actions that I and Jasmin did not do or not do in the same order, which had caused our game to crash at the steel door but not your game. (Also, I had tried it out using pure DOS and it still crashed, which is why I thought it was not caused by a missing Windows/DOS system file anyway).
Once again thanks a lot!
Best wishes, Wendy

hmm i'm not sure if i understand what you want.
1. A Map with Mines-Map only once instead of 6 without all the complicated Path?
2. + 3. ah now i understand after checking the Website. hmm i will think about it.
The Website is messed up with many ? instead of ' for example:
She has Erin Huviel?s talisman, which is essential to your quest.
correct it should be:
She has Erin Huviel's talisman, which is essential to your quest.

well, you need to stand near the board to take it. It is the same when you place the board.

Okay, thanks for that info.
"Are you SURE you got 10 points for killing him? Because if not, then your final score would be 675 -so did you actually GET 685 points in your game, or is it a calculated total??".
"i hve no reason to lie. It is 685 points see Sreenshot"
Thanks for the screenshot (I loved it!!!) but I was not implying you were lying! I was just checking in case you had made a mistake! :tomato: Sorry!!!! (Because my game kept crashing at one point, I had to get a saved-game from someone else, and continue from theirs (with different scores), hence my final score was a calculated total!!!)
I re-played the dwarves using previous saved games - it seems you are correct re the 7 dwarves, plus definitely correct re 4 guard-dwarves. However, I got 10 points for killing a red dwarf!!! So it seems the game randomises which dwarf you get the 10 points for, in different people's games.
"The Website is messed up with many ? instead of ' for example:
She has Erin Huviel?s talisman, which is essential to your quest.
Paco, I checked this from my side, and it shows correctly, it does not show the question-marks you are seeing. I will advise MrBill that there seems to be a problem for some viewers (maybe related to different language settings on the viewer's PC? I am not technical, so would not know. Thanks for advising us re this!!!!
"you need to stand near the board to take it. It is the same when you place the board".
Thanks a stack for the info, maybe i was not standing close enough? I will try it, for fun. Thanks again.

Just quickly visiting the forum before starting my working day. Geez guys the whole points thing sounds soooo complicated. I wish you all the luck in the world with your calculations. I am still with witchy mainly because I haven't had time to get into the game. I would love to have a couple of days off to just shut myself in and play but unfortunately no such luckl...How are you Jasmin? Best regards SAL

:tai: Hi to everyone,
Just quickly visiting the forum before starting my working day.
[/b]
Hi Sal
Nice to see your message, thanks. Yes, wouldn't it be wonderful to have time to do exactly what one wants!!! I would also love to play PC games whenever I felt like it!
Hi Jasmin
As my older brother would say : "Howzit mate!". (That means "how is it going, friend" or "hello friend" in good English!). Hope you are fine.
Best regards, Wendy

well, you need to stand near the board to take it. It is the same when you place the board.

Hello Paco
Thanks a stack. I was not standing quite close enough to the right-hand edge of the central platform!!! It worked fine when I stood with my foot slightly overlapping onto the board. That was fun, thanks!!!

Hi Paco,
You are absolutely correct. I can see the ? myself. Standards for HTML have changed again apparently. It used to be that a quote mark or apostrophe or copyright symbol were acceptable, but not now. Take a look at the Hints-File and see if all looks ok now. I'll have to do the walkthrough in the near future. Of course, Wendy just sent me an update for the walkthrough. No rest for the wicked. :)
Cheers,
Mr. Bill

Thanks for the screenshot (I loved it!!!) but I was not implying you were lying! I was just checking in case you had made a mistake! :tomato: Sorry!!!! (Because my game kept crashing at one point, I had to get a saved-game from someone else, and continue from theirs (with different scores), hence my final score was a calculated total!!!)[/b]
i never had technical problems. do you have Dosbox 0.72 the newest version?.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Wendy JM @ Oct 25 2007, 07:20 PM) 317291</div>
I re-played the dwarves using previous saved games - it seems you are correct re the 7 dwarves, plus definitely correct re 4 guard-dwarves. However, I got 10 points for killing a red dwarf!!! So it seems the game randomises which dwarf you get the 10 points for, in different people's games.[/b]

Paco, I checked this from my side, and it shows correctly, it does not show the question-marks you are seeing. I will advise MrBill that there seems to be a problem for some viewers (maybe related to different language settings on the viewer's PC? I am not technical, so would not know. Thanks for advising us re this!!!![/b]
maybe this come from the browser or uncode? well Mr. Bill should know how to fix this.

Hello Paco
"do you have Dosbox 0.72 the newest version?".
No, I am using DOSBox 0.63, so I am out of date. By your question, I presume you are using DOSBox 0.72, and seeing that you are not having problems with that, then thanks a million for the suggestion. :ok:
I will copy my saved-games elsewhere, then download and install DOSBox 0.72 and re-try the pre-crash saved game using 0.72 - if that is the solution, you will have made me a very happy person. Thanks!!!!!
Best wishes, Wendy :D
WendyMann
26-10-2007, 09:48 PM
Hello Paco
Well, I uninstalled DOSBox 0.63 and then installed DOSBox 0.72, and tried out the saved-game but it crashed under DOSBox 0.72. However, that could be because something in the saved-game under 0.63 is also causing it to crash in 0.72.
Therefore, the only answer for me is to replay Armaeth right from the start again (for the third time) but this time under DOSBox 0.72.
But there will probably be a long delay before I can do this, because I have other pressing priorities.
So therefore, thanks a million for your suggestion, and I look forward to trying it out later.
Regards from a grateful Wendy

Hi Jasmin
Welcome back!!! LOL Glad you are feeling better.
I have emailed you a list of recommended games you would probably like.
R.U.S.S. 's recommendations are excellent, I have played them all, except for Loom.
P.S. There are 3 Legend of Kyrandia games (Legend of Kyrandia 1, 2 and 3), they are all great.
Best regards

Hello all
I have attached the list of games I recommend, including the ones r.u.s.s. recommended too.
Remember, these are personal preferences, so you might not agree. However, these are my fave adventure games. The ones without remarks are ones which I doubt are available for download or to buy, so maybe try to find them second-hand somewhere.

Hi Sal
Yes, I will trap the 4 Sarhuls for you with pleasure, if I am "lucky" again - it does seem easier each time because one remembers movement patterns better the more often one tries.
"Legend of Kyrandia Malcolm's Revenge" :
Here are my old notes, in case something in there could help you - I played a downloaded version ages ago on my Pentium 200 Win 95 PC (before I upgraded it to Win98 2nd edition, which would probably also work well for this game):
"No movies, no speech" (on my PC) - but not an issue because there are subtitles and the lack of movies was not too disconcerting.
Do NOT choose view intro, or the game will not play. N.B. N.B. maybe this was your problem, Sal?
Leave CD in drive N.B. N.B. maybe this was also your problem, Sal. (this was my downloaded game-CD I was referring to)
Run from file kyr3.exe"
Sal, try running it on Win XP with DOSBox again, if you do not have an old PC, and the above pointers are likely to get you past the problems, but I have not tested it on Win XP myself.
Hope the above helps.
Yes, I agree, I simply LOVED the Kyrandia games.
Best regards, Wendy

Hi Jasmin
Great work!!! You are very observant! Thanks a million.
I gave up after dying many times trying to light the fire, but i did not use the word "embers" - you are very observant - the answer was there all the time, if only we had realised it!!!
Also what made me give up, was that the hints file itself said you could only light the fire by cheating - which put me off trying further.
Thanks so much for the info, I will try it myself for fun, and I will add it to the walkthrough in due course.

Hello Wendy. i request to edit the attachement (or delete and upload another one) where you REMOVE the site with a 'small fee'. cause the site is ignoring esa rules and offers protected games. then, it offers games for money, But, illegaly. they have absolutely no reason, game developers agreegement or moral rights to ask for money from you. they have just downloaded games from the internet like you do and offer them for money now. if you have already payed on the site, im sorry to say that you have been fcuked up and became a mass crowd puppet who gave them money for nothing. in addition, they steal reviews and screenshots from other abandonware sites like Abandonia and many others as well.
i have also reported the post to local forum moderator so he might remove it by himself

Hello r.u.s.s.
Thanks a stack for your info. No, in my ignorance I was not aware at all that they are illegal downloads. As far as I knew, those games were not on offer elsewhere so I had presumed (apparently incorrectly) that they had licence/agreement from the old owners to do so, and had presumed a portion of the fees were going to the old owners. It seems I was a sheep in amongst the wolf-pack??? :tomato:
Yes, you are very welcome to edit my attachment or delete it and upload a new attachment - just please keep my other "legal" suggestions in there please.
Maybe still list the ESA ones too, but with a note that they are ESA and to buy second-hand if "findable", or something like that (?).
I presume as a moderator you have the access to do so, so go ahead.
Thanks for advising me (and for asking my permission to amend).
Much appreciated.

one more points of interest! I started a new game to test the Fire-Points but.... at the Start the Maximum Treasure Points are 13700 and not 18720. o_0
either it is
18420
18720
or
13420
13720
or
13400?
13700
With the change from Bucket to crown the Maximum score go up from 13720 to 18720. What cause the change from 13700 to 13720? The Fur?

Hello Paco
1) Thanks for the new table with the latest "fire" score included.
2) Question marks in MrBillsAdventureland walkthrough :
No, at first I did not get a problem, it definitely displayed correctly with (') - I checked carefully throughout the document and it was fine, but then a couple of days later, when I went into the site again for about the 4th time in 2 days, it suddenly started showing question marks. Weird!!!
3) reviving the fire : thanks for your further words "put wood in fire" for reviving the fire. I tried "put wood in fire" way back when I first played, but now after reading that it worked for you Paco, I realise that (as Jasmin said), you also have to stand right close to the remaining small flames, which I did not do!!!
4) Treasure/fortune points: I think I noticed that the total maximum points jumped when I picked up the nugget (by more than the 4500 the nugget is worth). I cannot comment on the maximum points by the crown because of my game crash and having to change to Sal's saved game - hence I lost continuity of my accumulated points and of the maximum points.

Hello Sal, I read that you cannot play Legend of Kyrandia Malcolms revenge. Well I have figured out how to play it at the Dosbox 0.70
Insert your cd and open your dosbox
Z:\> mount c c:\
Z:\> mount d d:/ -t cdrom -usecd 0 -ioctl
Z:\> d:
D:\> install
then follow the install instructions
C:\WESTWOOD\MALCOLM>malcolm
the game should start then.
Maybe you can try this and tell me if it works. Okay good luck and best wishes

I went back up top and tried to light the torch as you said and Killian just kept walking into the fire and burning up.. I think I tried every darned angle I could think of but he still went up in flames. Where did you start from?...regards SAL
:brain: Wendy....I got them..I got those !@#$% sarhuls in the cage..All I did was to wait until they all went in!!!!!!!! it took ages and I almost fell off my chair when it happened!!!! Whoooooooooooeeeeeeeeee I am still lacking 300 points for the treasure and 60 points for the total score.. About the fire, when I went up top again the fire had definately died down in fact a couple of times I was told that the fire was dead. I am going to have another go later on.. I just don't know what I have missed (sigh).......SAL

Hey Sal,
well about the fire, mhh I don´t know exactly where to stand, but you have to light the fire from the right side. Well you have to stand as close to the fire as you can. If Killian starts walking while reviving the fire, I guess you will die for sure. Sorry my explaination is worse, I know. But I just can´t tell you better. Well I really don´t know what you´re doing wrong, maybe you just stand to far away to revive the fire. And I revived it just at the start. The more wood you put in the embers, the bigger the fire will get. (I hope that was the correct grammar) Wish you good luck.

Hi Sal
"Has anyone played to the finish with all the points yet?"
I am going to restart Armaeth from the begining again when I get the chance, using DOSBox 0.72 (thanks to Paco's advice). That is the only way I have a chance of getting past the game-crashing at the steel door, which was preventing me from playing a pure "start-to-finish" game. Hope DOSBox 0.72 works for me and does not crash again at the steel door - otherwise I will climb the walls in frustration!!!!!! I will also look for the missing 20 game-points and 300 treasure-points as I go (again!!!) - but lets hope someone finds them before that.
"Wendy....I got them..I got those !@#$% sarhuls in the cage"
Brilliant!!!! I am so glad you managed to do it. It in not easy, hey!!!! Well done Sal!!!!
"I am still lacking .....60 points for the total score"
Well, if we take off 20 points for reviving the fire, which we know about, then you are missing a theoretical 40 points, of which we do not know what comprises 20 of them. So somehow you missed actions worth 20 points along the way.
If I ignore the things you could not progress without doing, then maybe one or a combination of these are your missing 20 points :-
* 10 points for unlocking OR locking the jail : maybe go back there AFTER the save where you trapped the 4 Sarhuls, check your game-points, and standing on the steps before entering, take the jail keys off the doorpost on right. Then walk into jail and onto the trap on purpose so that the jail door closes, then go and unlock it from the inside, then check your game-points again to see if they went up by 10.
* did you remove the mould and read the inscription - if you skipped this because you already knew the answer, you would have missed 5 + 5 points for that.
* did you read the parchment - if you skipped doing that, it is 20 points.
* did you get 10 points for killing one specific dwarf? Maybe he is still wandering around somewhere.
* did you read the spellbook - 10 points if you skipped this step.
* did you look into ball - 10 points if you skipped this step.
That is all I can see that you could have omitted for the 20 points.
Regards
Wendy

"About the fire, when I went up top again the fire had definately died down in fact a couple of times I was told that the fire was dead. I am going to have another go later on.. I just don't know what I have missed (sigh).......SAL"
Hey Sal, I have just realised: you have just said the key words to tell me what is wrong (and which I had not realised in the game before).
But firstly, Paco's method and Jasmin's description of how to REVIVE the fire is absolutely correct - if you stand too far away from the reddish EMBERS (use eye-icon to read the description to see if it mentions embers), you will walk into the fire, but if you go to close, you will die anyway - so you have to stand "just right" i.e. as close as you can get without dying, then type "put wood in embers" or "put wood in fire". If you start walking, you were too far away, as Jasmin said.
However, your problem seems to be something different: you said "I was told that the fire was DEAD". I have never seen that message before. So it seems the fire has 3 fundamental stages:
(1) it is alight (with various levels of size depending on how much wood you gave it), or
(2) it is just embers, and can be revived using Paco's and Jasmin's method, or
(3) it is absolutely dead!!!
So it seems you cannot revive a DEAD fire without cheating - and now the game's hints-file makes sense after all - you can revive a fire using Jasmin's method if it is still embers (and get 20 points), but you have to cheat (with no points for doing so) if the fire is dead.
At least, that is my conclusions about the situation. What a shame :- if I am right (and it does make sense to me) then you cannot get the revive-fire points now!!!
Regards, Wendy :-((((((

Hey, I had the problem, too, that the fire had died completely, there were no embers left. Then there´s no chance of cheating, you can walk on the dead fire and you cannot revive it then, so it is always good to have a torch lit. Okay, have fun, Jasmin
:w00t: Hi to all............To the 5th Horseman..sorry about the edit thing..I came back on at three different times to post a message and each one was separate each time I came on..Not sure what I am doing wrong.
Thanks to Jasmin and Wendy for your help....I think you are right Wendy about replaying the game. We are becoming a bit more savvy each time we play so it is only a matter of time before we beat it...I am still on a high because I got those creepy sarhuls in their cage.Didn't think that would ever happen....Best wishes SAL

Hi r.u.s.s. or 5th Horseman
Please clarify: we want to do the right thing, but sometimes strange/unexpected things happen.
I know not to double post (after my previous mistake you advised me about a while ago).
However, I have had what sounds like the same problem as Sal : when I reply to two or three different people (posts by different people) within a short time, the system adds the second reply (when you hit "add reply") to the one you "added" previously/first, even though you are replying to someone else's post (i.e. to a different person). Then you reply to a third post, and it adds that one one to the end of the previous 2 replies when you hit "add reply", and it looks as if you have done one reply instead for 2 or 3 separate replies.
If there is something we should be doing differently, please advise.
Regards
Wendy
See : like has just happened above : it has added my "reply to r.u.s.s.", to the one where I had already "replied to Jasmin" (above).

Works fine, so my advise would be: learn working with the invision board features.
Think you will, in due time.

you dont need to hit "add reply" after you already did that and want to add a reply to different post (if i got you right). you click the "edit" button under your post and there add something new
^_^ Thanks to everyone for their help on this edit thing...Yes I do see what happened now.. I guess I was just totally unaware of how the system works..Sorry for the stuff up will be more careful in future...SAL

Hello DosRaider and r.u.s.s.
Thanks (from my side) for your inputs. Yes, I read the RULES which are logical and sensible, but what I can't find is a TUTORIAL on your website (or maybe elsewhere) to explain in straightforward terms for "amateurs" re how to use a forum - I just use the few features I have discovered by trial and error - so where can a technologically-challenged person find relatively non-technical (straightforward) tutorial, please? One example : you mention an invision board - what is this strange animal? Maybe I was previously looking in the wrong place for a tutorial - please point me in the right direction or give me a hyperlink to it.
Thanks folks.

Well I hope I am getting this right..Wendy is quite correct about explanations and tutorials..I feel like I have been rapped over the knuckles for doing something wrong, which is purely due to ignorance of the set up and no knowledge of where to go to get information.. I have apologised twice for my misdemeanor. I am not a person who ignores rules.. SAL

Scoll down the whole way to the bottom, you'll see:
Invision Power Board v2.1.7 © 2007 IPS, Inc.
Another much used one is phpBB.
Those are bulletin board software.
As for a tutorial.... hmmm, that would be an overkill, wouldn't it?
I would say, use your brains.
One possibility (of many) is when you must reply to and quote multiple posts:
use notepad, hit the 'reply' button in one message, copy paste in notepad, hit the 'back' arrow above and do the same for the next post, and so on.....
Oh djees, use your brains, FYI: I completely work in the browser itself, copy-paste-edit-goback-whatever and whatnots.

I don't think that any of the mods/admins believe that you on purpose double / triple posted.
Otherwise your messages would have been deleted and you would get a negative postcount.
BTW: people around here are pretty lenient, the places where I'm the one on the delete buttons your double posts are deleted on sight after ONE warning.
Yeah, I'm pretty badmooded sometimes .... bĂ*Ă*Ă*Ă*Ă*Ă*Ă*Ă*d me.

Stop arguing. It just doesn't serve a point.
What is instinctive to a forum regular with several years of experience might well be utter black magic to the casual user.
Everyone was a newbie once, everyone had to find out how some of the board functions operate - often by trial and error.
Wendy, Sal: When you experience problems with forum controls, try to slow down a little. The forum controls may seem overwhelming or incomprehensible at first, but don't let that impression to fool you.
Wendy: What you're looking for - the ability to quote several posts from the discussion in a single reply - is called "multiquote". To mark any post for quoting you click its' http://www.abandonia.com/forum/style_images/abandonia/p_mq_add.gif button (next one to the left from the Reply one). Then use the Add Reply to write your post and all posts you've selected will appear in it as quotes (multiquote doesn't work with Fast Reply, unfortunately).

Hello all
Back on topic: we are still missing 20 game/action-points and 300 treasure/fortune points. I have therefore started playing Armaeth again from the start (using DOSBox 0.72). I am making a note of "loose ends" i.e. unresolved hints, descriptions and items that could be used at some stage in the game. I have tried the following in level 0 but without discovering anything. I am going to (re)start level 1 next (going down 1st secret entrance).
Armaeth : loose ends / unanswered possible issues :
General:
What is the heart icon used for?
Items /Issues arising in Level 0
The waterfall flows underground after the cascade i.e. at whirlpool in pond (can’t swim down – is something hidden down here?) .
Can one dig somewhere with the shovel? (so far, no luck)
What is the whip used for?
What is the hive of bees or hive of hornets, or the honey, used for ? (except to die!)
Have we missed something up a tree or in a hole in a tree?
What is the oak chest in the hut used for?
Is there an additional use for the steel lever?
If anyone finds answers to the above, or finds any of the missing points, please help the gaming community by posting the details on this forum. Thanks a million.
Regards, Wendy
