Who doesn’t remember Tom & Jerry, the crazy cat’n’mouse duo? We all know (and love) those wacky old cartoons and here’s your chance to be in one.
This game allows you to play the role of Jerry. Unfortunately you can’t select your character (I’d much rather be Tom). As you know, Jerry is always chased by Tom and he resorts to various tricks to pay him back. And that’s exactly what happens here. After you choose the difficulty level (there are two) and the time to play (I suggest no more then 5 minutes), you get to play.
Both of you start in the middle of the room (there is only one room) and walk ten paces away from each other (just like in a real duel). After that Tom will come running after you trying to get you. And you must, guess what, run away and play a trick or two on him. There are some props you can find laying around the room and are just plain and simple FUN. I’m talking about firecrackers to blow Tom up with (or if you have it for too long, then you blow up) or knitting needles for a swordfight.
Tom will also come after you with certain objects (like the giant mallet), but you’re not defenseless either. Just run to your HQ (your hole). If you go up the stairs you’ll find yourself charging down an ironing board in a home made cat-shaving cart. If you enter the barrel you’ll be flying the light-bulb bomber and if you climb the ladder you’ll exchange yolks with Tom.
After the time runs out, the game’s over and you can start it over again.
It’s a fun little game, but it doesn’t offer enough variety. I’d say the idea deserves at least a 4, the fun factor also. The lack of variety brings it down to a 3. The graphics are also average and the sound’s not much, but will do. So all in all it’s a 3.
It would sure be fun to see a remake (or an upgrade) of this game, because the basic idea is (as I said) very good.
Mouse control:
To control the mouse (Jerry) you need to use the arrow keys. You jump with enter (it also puts away the ‘swords’), and you use stuff with 0 – bottom of the numeric keys. That’s about it. Have fun!
